Summary
╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯A fae’s entire life is one long series of biting off more than they can chew - it isn’t hard to do when you’re roughly the same size as a loaf of bread. But Amphitrite has certainly made an art of it. Considering that her charge can be best described as “directly defying the Tidelord and his denizens at every turn”, freely sharing the knowledge that the ocean’s prophecies have to offer to any who ask, this fae does her fair amount of running, dodging, evading, and all-around nuisance making - all for the sake of sharing a couple of humble words out of a bubble. Her mind is whip-sharp, turning foreign languages into communicable ones, magic into tangibility, and prophecies into possibility. All three make her one of the few dergs outside of the Sea of a Thousand Currents who can understand what the Tidelord prophecizes from the Spiral Keep - if the he didn’t want his prophecies to be shared, she reasons, then perhaps he shouldn’t have made them so easy to understand, nor release them into the water for her wandering ears to fish for... ╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮
Early Years
╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯Not one for the status quo, Amphitrite turned the brunt of her attention away from the solid glaciers that comprised her home in the Frigid Floes and onto the water supporting it as soon as she could edge out past her hatchling nest and onto the ice chunk’s edge. The strange stories she would return with after a long day of play were dismissed by family as a rich - if not sophisticated, given her age - imagination. But they weren’t her’s. She felt them from deep within her, boiling to the surface through her tongue, but they weren’t her own. This feeling only intensified when she came closer to the water - fuzzy but alive, fractions words and poems fizzled through the water, waiting for her. The boiling on her tongue became a gas fire. She needed to share what she knew with the world. As she got older, less and less dergs wanted to hear her tales, dismissing her as a blabbermouth at best, insane at worst. Why wasn’t anyone talking about the sounds beneath the water? Why wouldn’t anyone talk with her about the sounds beneath the water? Somebody out there would want to know the contents of the ocean. She knew it had to be true. So she gathered her parchments, her inks, and took leave of the Floes, inching as far as her little body could take her at a time. |

Amphitrite has no interest in those dergs. Information should be free, she believes, and thus, she travels from clan to clan, bay to waterfront, collecting information and sharing it in front of tribunes, counsel meetings, and communal firepits alike. Still, it isn’t quite certain where her ultimate loyalties lie - who will she decide is in need of information about the great flood threatening their land, or the fact that one of their counselmen is, in fact, a traitor? |

A Day in The Life
╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯Her daily life is a reflection of what clan she has chosen to reside with for the time being, what water dergs she has upset in that time, and to what extent she has upset those dergs. While others react far more volatile than others when they hear that she has been spreading their secretive prophecies, none are too pleased to meet the ice dragon that believes she’s in a position to share the secrets of the deep - so Amphitrite always has to be ready to leave at the drop of a hat with her manuscripts in tow. ╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮
Strengths and Weaknesses
“A true teacher would never tell you what to do. But he would give you the knowledge with which you could decide what would be best for you to do.” -Christopher Pike Amphitrite believes that knowledge, much like the water she gleans it from, should be free-flowing and unhindered. While she acknowledges the violent dangers that certain dragons could accomplish with unlimited knowledge, she does not think that it is her place to interfere in such matters - until, of course, she does. She tends to change up her entire philosophy at a moment’s notice, too easily swayed by dragon’s arguments and opinions. Her desire for information to be avaliable tends to remain steadfast, and she forever finds herself at odds with the Water Flight - but who knows what might happen, if a particularly convincing derg got a hold of her... ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯

Trivia
╰━━━━━━━━━╯- She’s been known to smuggle herself into the Sea of a Thousand Currents on occasion, especially during celebrations of the Wavecrest Saturnalia. Her “hearing” drives her wild during these visits, what with how crisp it is due to its closeness to the Tidelord, but she enjoys the festivities “down where it’s wetter”. ╭━━━━━━━━━╮
