Background Information Birth Zander was born and raised as part of the Blood Singer's clan. He is the son of the 2nd-in-command. Peryite's children have always tended towards the strange and troublesome, but none more than Zander. Lost Brother As a youth, Zander tricked his younger brother into accompanying him to the southern edge of the Wasteland, whereupon he sold the dragon to a Ice Clan in the midst of a dominance war. This sacrilegious act infuriated both his father - who had lost several of his children to other Flights - and the clan leader. When Minstri called for his presence before her, he instead fled, stealing a great many valuable artifact from the vault - using his father's rank as a way to access it. She sent out a call for his capture and return. The chase was disastrous. Those mercenary dragons who answered the bounty were found dead on Zander's trail. He had taken to using long, looping paths to get behind his pursuers. Being young and small, he could not take on a full-grown dragon in battle... so instead he would kill them in their sleep. It was Grabal who finally caught him, on the edge of dragonhome, dragging the young skydancer home in his jaws. Long Live the Queen Shortly after his return, Zander made the boldest move any dragon might. He tried for the lives of his father and the queen, hoping he might again make his escape in the turmoil that followed. Slipping into his father's chamber whilst the lair slumbered, he was met in the shadows by a pair of red eyes and Minstri's whisper. "So bold." Among the Damned Zander's former clan, torn on what to do with him, sold him to a pair of insidious dragons running a black market stall somewhere in the abiding boneyard. His new home was anything but united; The members of this loose clan had widely varying sets of skills, and did not trust one another. However Penance seemed a strong enough leader to make them listen. Those that call themselves "the damned" do not trust, but must rely on each other to survive. It is immediately made clear that traveling is a privilege that most do not get. Penance and Sin were not lying when they said that death is the only way out. And what is this endless dark they preach of? Lady Silth Perhaps it was his arrogance, or simply Penance's spite, but Zander, as well as another new arrival going by the name of Abaddon, were sentenced to caring for the Clan's only living progenitor. Lady Silth is as ancient as she is mean, having committed a crime against the gods that she does not speak of. Or perhaps she does not remember. Of the two new guards, Zander has been the most intelligent. Groveling and flattery calms the old dragon's rage, and earns him her favor. Silth holds more power than even Penance, as she alone is allowed to speak to the wraithlike spirit that guards the clan. Zander refuses to be tied down, and if he must earn the trust of the clan's eldest member to get his freedom, so be it. |
