History Came to this clan as a representative for Earth in the Council of Elders. In this, he found his purpose in life. He does his best to be a good flight representative. With the arrival of the new colours Spellsword was among the first to be granted a scatter scroll, handing his appearance over the the gods. He had never been vain, not one to preen or fuss over his appearance, but as the process started he still felt a slight reluctance. His skin felt like it was pulling tighter, vibrating ever so slightly against him, amplifying his dread. Had this been a mistake? He had pictured himself proudly displaying the earthiest of colours. Coal, Obsidian, Shale! Dirt, Sand, Stone! But when the tingling faded and he opened his eyes it was like a faint purple haze filled his vision, and when he looked down he realised it was the sun reflecting off of his bright purple skin. He heard Keilree, who had been supervising the process, stifle a gasp. When he turned, he saw his wings were bright like birds of paradise. "Humpf", he grunted."This is fine. The earth produces wondrously bright crystals all the time. Earthshaker has blessed me with the colours of the most precious things he grows within the earth." All knew he wasn't happy, but none dared bring it up. |

He spent his weeks wandering, sometimes disappearing for days at a time. It was whispered he was looking for a skin or accent maker to cover up his scales. One day he returned, not with an accent but with an egg. A quaint, cold little egg. He claimed it as his, and he fussed over it endlessly. When eventually it hatched a wet little tundra rolled out, looking around itself with wide eyes. Spellsword beamed more widely than anyone had ever seen him do, and gathered the little fuzzbundle into his arms. "Augury, I shall name you, and I shall give you all that I have wrongfully denied my other children." The two were seldom seen separate, with Augury often riding on his dad's broad shoulders, and Spellsword prattling on about rock formations. The combined burden of fatherhood and the Council of Elders was not an easy one to bear, but it was a small price to pay for happiness. |
