There are times, in the desert, where you don't have a name. The howling winds, unbearable heat, and horrid cold can ruin you. The earth itself seems moments notice away from swallowing you whole. Only the company of another could possibly save you from being forgotten. I was almost one of them, the nameless they call them.

I remember growing up in the caravan. Many of the other travelers were fairly nasty, they only cared for their wares, no one had the time or energy to put up with a small child. However, that was perfectly fine by me. I spent my time mainly trying to stay out of the way. Perched on my griffon I was the happiest, digging for roots or fishing were the times I remember being amused. The desert wasn't as barren as you might imagine, however, it was quite quiet. The tales quickly died down over the course of a single night, all the stories lighting the mood until the cold faded and the red sun once again rose.
