Personality
╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯Dependant on the forest for her current livelihood, this forest spirit wanders the forest, dispatching of hunters as she sees fit. Is she a blessing? A curse to the stomachs of hungry dergs? It depends on who you ask. Either way, she’s more than earned her nickname: Huntsman’s Bane. Little else is known about her, as no derg has been able to approach her - and lived to tell the tale, at least... ╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮
A Day in the Life
╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯The scent of death followed her insistently. The spirit was not unused to the scent’s place in the forest. It dogged every murky corner, tailed every older creature, ate away at fell tree logs. It had its place here, and she did not intervene to disrupt it. But what business did it have following her? If she were to turn her head at any given moment where her guard was weakest, where the need for rest had been delayed for long enough, she saw him through the traps she had set in hot pursuit. The sight filled her chest with fear. It was if the forest that she had thought once saved her was mocking her. We gave you eternity. It can be taken away. Was it a test on their behalf? The magics that permeated the woods did not take well to dragonkind, but she had always thought that she was the exception. Hadn’t she proven her loyalty enough? Her head drooped under the weight of what could have easily been shame or sleep deprivation. She had always been the weakest, but she had thought that she had been in the forest’s good graces for long enough to avoid the reminder. The memory existed only in splinters, and inasofar as the dense magics digging their tendrils into the forest would allow her to reach - the older the memory, the harder the magic would fight to dismiss it from her brain. But it existed there anyway - her mother, tall and brimming with magic, forcing the tips of her claws into the spirits’ chest. She emitted a chirrup, too young for speech but old enough to recall. The pain was uncharacteristic of her life thus far. Still, her mother pushed. The chirrup became a shrill yell, transcending the need for language. The pain didn’t come from the piercing that had left small droplets of blood on her chest. There was a sort of molten heat that now sat in her veins, rapidly breaking through her feathers. It felt as if it would take her entire body with it, until she too evaporated into nothingness. Her claws were withdrawn. “I am sorry, little one. But you are not the worthy vessel we thought you were.” The mystery as to what she was a vessel for was one that had thus far gone unsolved, but the forest quickly took advantage of that uncertainty. As soon as the young skydancer realized that no amount of crying would make her mother return to her, the forest struck, filling her with the same heat her mother had in a burst of green light. She went again to yell, but paused - the energy that filled her now was pleasant and cool, as if carrying through her body on a breeze. Now, it snaked through her chest to her throat, contracting its muscles. “Thank you,” she spoke to the forest. Those were her first words. How many years had that been, now? She was older now, but didn’t feel so. She had thought that life would continue on in much the same manner from the point of her transformation onwards - young, lithe, and answering to the insatiable urge to strike down hunters. Yes, every since that day, the urge to attack the hunters that stalked the animals of the forest - her forest, something inside of her urged - beastclan and derg alike, were disposed of in one way or another. She didn’t want to end them, if for no other reason than to ensure that their filthy spirits wouldn’t remain stuck in a forest that had no want of them. But she did what she had to do. And now, him! Her usual tricks didn’t work. Storms that threatened to break his wings, falling rocks, inclement circumstances abound, and yet, his approach did not slow. And that smell of death! It plugged her nose with fear. Was it coming from him? She feared looking at him for long enough to find out, afraid that it would give him the opportunity to finally reach her. She feared that everything she had known had never truly been her own. So she continued forward. It was the only way to go. |

JOB
╰━━━━━━━━━╯Her job isn’t one in a traditional sense of the world - it’s more a charge, a drive that calls her to protect the forest by ridding it of those who would seek to harm it. Her reward? Continuing to use the forest’s magic, most likely. |

Outlook
Where her own ideology begins and the forest’s ends is difficult to say. Does she truly believe in her work? It’s hard for her to answer that question, nor would it be in her best interest to do so. Keeping her head low and playing by the forest’s rules seems to be the only clear means of survival in her situation...

╭━━━━━━━━━╮
Trivia
╰━━━━━━━━━╯- She shows a great propensity to store magic for later use. - It has been said that she shows a softer side when there are hatchlings present, simply ushering hunters out of the area instead of wreaking destruction. This has started a local tradition of bringing hatchling "watchers" out on the hunt, who do nothing but be present. ╭━━━━━━━━━╮ |

╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮
Strengths and Weaknesses
╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯It’s difficult to draw a profile of this derg due to her lack of approachability, but it’s reasonable to guess that she would be too be affected by anything that could make the forest ill - forest fires, poisons and pesticides, plagues. Still, no one has actually tested this in fear of evoking her wrath or ruining a potential food source, so this remains to be determined. |

Trivia
╰━━━━━━━━━╯- Every once in a while, some hunter will claim that this forest spirit looks like a derg that they know, living or deceased. It is unclear whether they are mistaken through their hysteria, or if she is capable of transforming her outer appearance through magic to achieve this effect. ╭━━━━━━━━━╮ |
