Called to his charge early, Karatek couldn't remember a time when his heart didn't beat for another. Over seas and through storms he ventured, following that elusive, persistent pull - and finally his dreams were realized, his young heart singing with joy at their meeting - at finding Anauk, the one who would define his future.

But Anauk was cold and bitter, once a guardian himself until his unwilling transformation into a pearlcatcher, his connection with his Charge wrested from him as surely as his hulking form. Only time will tell if Karatek can help him recover - or if Anauk will even let him try.
