OVERVIEW

As the highest member of the Court, Coyotl is well respected and adored by many. His beautiful scales and intelligence is to be admired. The nocturne simply nods in agreement. He doesn't like to speak that much, being a dragon as straight as an arrow. He likes to be straight to the point and doesn't like beating around the bush. Many describe him as nearly perfect, since his morals and ideas are for everyone, yet he's still a simple dragon that's prone to mistakes. Coyotl can also be quite cold (literally too) for others who aren't that close to him, but he's always willing to help his fellow coven members.

CHARACTER

Many dragons seem him as a dignified nocturne, an honorable member of the coven, or some would even say he’s a blessing. Anyone and everyone would say Coyotl is an example of a perfect leader. He’s dependable, loyal, and always striving to keep the clan the best it could be. Coyotl is often found serving the denizens and making the lair a better place. His cold, calculating and somewhat direct personality could rub off the wrong way to others, nevertheless he’s a nocturne that values truth and equality. He would say the things on his mind, or won’t say a word. Coyotl does care about the feelings of others, but he won’t hesitate to bring the light of truth in their eyes.

It’s true that Coyotl might not seem as the friendliest dragon around, but all of this is merely a façade. Inside that seemingly cold heart is actually a kindling flame of warmth. Coyotl couldn’t admit it, but he is quite a soft and mellow dragon, slightly timid even. He isn’t overwhelmed with his role, though he does find it tiring to keep up his taciturn persona, crafted through mimicking previous chiefs and advisors. It’s was a daunting task for the noc, yet he knew the coven needed a capable leader. He had to change for them, or at least shift to a different personality. It was a sort of mimicking that affected Coyotl’s being as a whole, and done for the well-being of the clan. Only the Court knows of this, and details are kept short.

At times Coyotl can be quite contradicting, due to switching between his true and leader persona. He could be a cautious dragon, but willing to take risks. He could socialize with a party of dragons, then the next moment would prefer to be left alone. From the windows of his soul, you might even see a glint of fear or anxiety. Maybe you’ll see a flicker of light, happiness or both. The most notable slip-up only a handful have seen is a change from a formal attitude to a more casual one. This would happen whenever Coyotl would feel a bit stressed or if he finds himself in a troubling situation. The rare sight of seeing his true personality is often seen by Cacogen, who describes this as ‘one of Coyotl’s best mirror tricks’. While not the most prominent magic user in the coven, his skills are quite astounding. Coyotl's capable of magic as clear as his soul. From creating crystals to magic mirrors, he can also conjure mists and hail. The nocturne’s power is often a popular topic among warriors and mages from the clan. Few witnesses have seen him using rather shady magic, such as duplicating himself and disappearing into thin air. Others jokingly say that the Court head doubles as a ninja at night, but it doesn’t seem too far from the truth. All in all, Coyotl still believes he needs to train a bit more to fully unlock his potential as a leader and as an individual.

Truly the best, as some would say, but really, Coyotl isn’t perfect. He knows that, but the coven depends on him so much that he can’t afford to show any weaknesses. Seeing the bright eyes of his fellow clan mates motivates enough to keep this charade going, and who knows, perhaps he’ll actually change into his ideal self. For now, Coyotl simply stays silent as he works on paperwork.

RELATIONSHIPS

y4fNUEK.png
cacogen || close friend & boss
Cacogen has been his friend ever since he was taken under the coven. The two are quite inseparable and make the strangest, yet best duo in the lair. Coyotl will mostly act casual around the coatl, but tends to act as his ‘force’ or ‘motivation’. He sees Cacogen more as a close buddy than a boss, but it doesn’t stop him from nagging and complaining about Cacogen’s procrastination.

cocytus || ???
The nocturne’s relationship with Cocytus is quite weird and mysterious. They had a clutch of eggs, yet they don’t seem close. The two often bump into each other, but don’t exchange any words. Coyotl simply regards Cocytus as nothing more than as a colleague, and their relationship is based of respect.

quirks & headcanons
♢ coyotl's winter wolf cape is his most prized possession. getting even the tiniest speck of dust on it will annoy him and ruin the whole day for him. he isn't fond of removing it, too.

♢ he doesn't show it, but he appreciates affectionate gestures from close friends. coyotl finds it hard to reciprocate his love and passion, though. coyotl also finds it hard to accept compliments and flirty pick up lines from others.

♢ he has the habit of touching the bow on his arm when he's nervous. he tugs at it and fidgets with it when he's bored, too. it's a very special bow.

♢ while mimicking is a common trait among nocturnes, when coyotl does it, it ends up being mirrored. for example, when a dragon tilts their head to the right, coyotl tilts his to the left.

"You should really take a break, you know?" The young Core dragon murmured to the Crux, the highest member of the court and most likely the one with that held most power in the system that was run.

All things considered, everything was quite hectic at the moment within the court's dealings, nothing seemed to slow down and only more work would pile up in the end without being dealt with properly. However that wasn't to say that Coyotl wasn't trying his hardest. That would be an understatement, he was doing as much as he could as briskly as he could without trying to slip up. Something like that would surely cause an uprising, creating for quite a handful of unhappy dragons within their ranks and even those that are under them.

Cacogen was basically the worst procrastinator you could meet, he was constantly leaving things till the last moment and avoiding them as if they were the plague. This suggestion of his was one of many ways he would use to his advantage to continue pushing things away. Although in addition, it was also his way of trying to spend time with Coyotl who, overtime, had become his unrequited love. What was at first just a loyal platonic close friendship turned into something more for the energetic and 'dank' coatl. The same cannot be said to Coyotl who only things about the two of them as close friends and nothing more despite the 'worker, boss' relationship they seemingly have.

Since they had been together at the beginning of the coven, it wasn't unnatural that they were about that close and their development got further. To a point of course.

Coyotl looked up from his work, a troubled expression crossing the dragon's otherwise lovely features. It wasn't displayed on his face or in the way he carried himself though he did appreciate the gesture of his friend in his own way. It just wasn't in his nature to react much to the concern that his counter had to him. "I know you enjoy procrastinating but some dragons are trying to get some work done here." He muttered under his breath with a fake undertone of irritation. Part of it was playful and other parts of it were absolutely serious.

He wanted to do his best in the job he had and didn't have any thought of something otherwise on it. There was not doubt in his mind that he was far from being perfect, it just meant that he had to try harder to do his best. Without a doubt, he would at least do that much for his clan members and for his fellows.

"That doesn't mean that a small break would kill you, right?" He raised the point, moving closer to the other male coatl's side and raising an eye at the work he was currently filling out.

In all honesty, he did have a point and the weary expression that was slowly taking over Coyotl's face confirmed that. A break wouldn't kill him though surely working this much might just do the trick. He knew that to first help the others he had to take care of himself. Even if he hated that fact. Sighing, he pushed away from his desk to listen to his colleague rant and rave about this and that pertaining to the subject.

Finally, he held his claws up to stop him, amused mostly at his efforts and attempts to convince him that it was about time to take a breather. Chuckling faintly under his breath, he eventually relented, a slight smile of entertainment crossing his lips. "Fine, a short break, then it's back to work."
