______ Not many guardians find their charge when they are young. Most take years, decades, sometimes even centuries to find what they seek most. But not Elixr. No more than four days old she went wandering in the woods near his lair, having heard the sound of laughter. She wandered, following her ears. As she grew closer, she grew nervous. Something was off about that laughter. It wasn't happy, it was maniacal. There was an inherent madness that ensnared anyone around. Something told her to keep walking forward, however, a strange urge that she had difficulty ignoring.
______ She rounded the corner, a strange sight eclipsing everything else around her. Symbols were drawn all over the trees and earth, numbers and strange symbols showing things that she did not have the power to comprehend. In an attempt to absorb all that she was seeing her young mind grew, pressing against her skull as the information rapidly swept through her brain, corrupting it. Within seconds she was unconscious.
______ [When she woke, The Master was staring her in the face. He continued to care for her over the next few days as her brain and body attempted to heal, but she could tell she was changed. "You are now like me," he stated. "Not many can survive an awakening as abrupt as yours." He cared for her until she was healed. It was strange - he was always seemingly so kind to her, so good but...he was still off. The insanity emanated from him in waves, but now she was on his level. Finally one day he pulled her aside. "I am leaving and you will come with me. You will need a new name - Missy. Short for The Mistress." A name given after his own title.
