Saturnus creates many potions and strange inventions of varying power and usefulness. She thoroughly studies everything she can in an area of subject in order to use her skills to the fullest extent. Furthermore, she is completely mad, and has injured herself on more than just one occasion.

Her latest and most promising research is water pressure. It is well known that deepsea dragons, who are born underneath all that crushing water pressure, cannot withstand the surface waters for long. Not without the aid of their magic, at least, and even then, not every deepsea dragon practices Water magic. This is because the change in pressure is so dramatic that it messes with their breathing chemistry.

Like any sea creature, dragons must extract and exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide from the water, and the solubility of gasses are reduced as water pressure decreases. When a dragon travels from the deepsea to the surface, these gases come out of solution much faster than they can adapt. This results in decompression sickness known as "the bends".


Saturnus wants to fix that.

Saturnus and Riptide are among a rare subspecies of deepsea dragons that can emit red bioluminescence.
