________________________the Bonepicker
I had a thought, dear, however scary,
about that night, the bugs and the dirt.
Why were you digging, what did you bury
before those hands pulled me from the earth?
I will not ask you where you came from,
I will not ask and neither should you.

I will not ask you where you came from,
I will not ask and neither should you.
Sputnik comes from a family with very specific traits. His parents are master thieves in their own right, and subsequently, he learned how to move quick and silent long before he learned how to read or write. As a hatchling, Sputnik would bully his smaller siblings and was frequently in trouble with other clans for fighting and petty theft.
Unable to settle down, it was the small robbery of a local merchant that landed him 10 years in Water flight prison. Sputnik became mean and embittered over his sentence, and, if anything, his time spent in prison furthered his criminal lifestyle. He met and befriended other seasoned criminals who taught Sputnik how to be more successful, and together they planned heists that they would commit after they were released.
Sputnik was paroled after serving half of his time, and, true to his nature, he immediately returned to a lifestyle of theft. About a month after his release he robbed his first vault, taking 10,000 gems. Two months later he robbed another high-end treasure vault. Sputnik was captured and taken back to prison shortly after his second robbery, but he helped conceive a plan for escape for himself and six other friends that he'd met while in prison. The group was known as the Oilslick Gang and together they continued to commit vault robberies.
Sputnik inherited his mother's greed and possessed a flair for dramatics. He knew of his Memento Mori lineage, and it made him reckless. Throughout his life, he was accused of robbing over 100 vaults and escaping from the deep-dwelling prisons of the Water flight twice.
After continually evading the bounty on his head for years, Sputnik was eventually wounded in a standoff and returned to his mother's home to recover, where he succumbed to his injuries and subsequently died.
Vigil's curse ran thick through his lineage, and Sputnik did not stay dead for long. A simple bargain with a spirit of death reversed it, and sharing his soul with an otherworldly familiar was the price he paid. His hoard of stolen treasure, the only worldly possession that he's ever coveted, now takes on the form of the poltergeist pile that shares his soul.
True to his avarice, Sputnik's need for wealth has not dissipated in his second life, although he has abandoned his infamous lifestyle of crime and theft. He stays out of the spotlight- no longer that strapping, young and jaunty skydancer he once was. Sputnik learned his lesson in his last life, and this time, he intends on playing it safe.
Sputnik's hoard is rumored to make him one of the richest dragons in Sornieth, and it's been long sought after for years now. But he is in possession of a Grave-dirt Key, which conceals his poltergeist pile from prying dragons.

Dynamic / Animated / Ghastly / Greedy This nameless, haunted familiar is the envy of many dragons. Sputnik is infamous for his hoard of treasure and gems, which is the accumulation of all the funds he's stolen throughout his career as a vault robber. Many have gone out looking for Sputnik's hoard, perhaps unaware that it's been stored away in this poltergeist pile since his re-awakening. Even then, it is almost impossible to steal from this sword-wielding familiar, as it is buried far, far below the ground of the clan's cemetery and can only be opened with a Grave-dirt Key. |
