Born and raised in the Emberglow Hearth, Laeril was taught the ways of metalworking, as is the norm in the Fire realm. She was not bad at the craft, but she did not find her results to be up to her standards. She struggled with this for the majority of her apprentice years, before one of her mentors kindly suggested she try her hand at other crafts. While she was frustrated at first by the suggestion, she did find that she enjoyed a few of the other crafts more than metalwork. She became particularly fond of working with clay to forge fine ceramics, and became very skilled at decorating her work with paints or glazes. Hearing word on how artisans n different regions used different techniques and materials, she grew curious to seek out the knowledge of other flights and so left her ancestral home. She traveled through The Shifting Expanse and Sunbeam Ruins, sharing techniques with the artisans in each area for several seasons. Because there were several disturbances on the border between The Sunbeam Ruins and The Tangled Wood -something to do with a Tundra and a Spiral- she chose to go to the Water realm first, planning to visit the Shadow realm afterwards when she would not be entering from 'enemy territory'. Her stay however, became a permanent one. She joined the clan to learn what she could from Istalri's craftsmanship, and became quite fond of the pleasant Coatl's company, though he was a bit distant with her at first. Whatever inhibitions Istalri held at first, he eventually overcame them and the two decided to make their partnership into a romantic relationship as well. |
