Raek is a relatively small dragon with way too much anger in his system. Anger he has no idea what to do with, except cause destruction. He doesn't want to harm people, but sometimes he just simply loses his temper.
He is in reality just wounded and hurt, and uses hostility to not let people get too close to him.
