Royal's career as a paladin was brief. He fought long after he was too injured to continue, and realized too late that he had broken himself on the altar of a Goddess who no longer cared. Perhaps She never had. Without Her guidance, he was bereft. Who was he, a mere mistake, to pretend at service to Her holy light?

Though he could no longer lift a sword, and his armor weighed heavy on him, Royal could not simply retire. He had sworn an oath. Over time, many of his scars would heal. Some, deep below the surface, began to fester. Others began to change....

★ A little too interested in necromancy for comfort, which is to say that he is interested in it at all.

★ Has been burned by everyone he ever should have been able to trust. Doesn't believe he deserves to be angry about it.

★ Arrived at the hospital seeking treatment for lingering injuries, and somehow became Tremain's "research assistant"?

★ He never takes off his armor. What is he hiding? What is he so afraid of?

★ None of the residents actually like Royal, but they tolerate him because he makes Tremain happy. The two of them spend long hours together "working on something" in secret. That's probably just code for making out, and not anything more nefarious....
