Tisrin
Heart of the Clan - The Sun
110.png
Tisrin is the warm centre of Driftwood Shore to many, synonymous with soft golden sand, fragrant flowers, and lazy days. He almost pathologically shirks work, moaning and groaning over-dramatically when asked to do anything taxing, but is intensely sensitive to the emotions and troubles of the clan dragons themselves. He will go far out of his way to comfort those who need it, even if all that means is sitting by their side and counting shells. Of all the clan, Tisrin is the most accepting and socially aware, bonding with and understanding even "difficult" dragons such as Sisi and the neurotic Anamanamarie. Dragons know they can count on finding a lazy basking partner and a friend in Tisrin, and wherever his dappled behind is parked on the beach often becomes a focal point for impromptu social gatherings or games.

In many ways the 'face' of Driftwood Shore, Tisrin also serves as an unofficial sort of clan liaison manager. His mighty social intelligence keeps attentive track of who knows whom between clans and what clans think of each other, especially those clans inhabited by children of the Shore. He sends very irregular news messages to friendly clans when the mood strikes him, occasionally in the form of what he calls the Drifting Diaries.

Although naturally one of the most relaxed, warmest people you could meet, Tisrin's sense of deep responsibility to the happiness of the clan he loves means that any truly negative feelings of his own are not allowed to surface. Tisrin weathered the War of Swords badly, but the personal turmoil and anxiety left within him stays deep below where it will worry nobody.

qgmz0Cv.png
History: A young Tisrin joined the clan at its founding, placing himself under the care of the (obviously low-bred, but very entertaining regardless) Water dragons, and he is now one of its most senior members. Although he does not act like it, he is the clan founder's equal in age, and has watched most of the clan grow to adulthood. His birth clan is Maelstrom Caves, and he deeply regrets his thoughtless abandonment of clan and family without so much as a goodbye, though he has since reconciled with his family through letters: The enchanted flower at his wrist is from this exchange. Tisrin was key during the Swords War for finally exposing Rennic's betrayal, and he still carries thin scars around his throat and jaw from his subsequent encounter with Rennic's war general daughter.

Physical: Tisrin is a large, slightly doughy Pearlcatcher with a dancing way of moving but very little muscle tone. He tends to prance and hop when happy, and is much better at short jumps and flaps than actual flying, though he is still able to hover as most Pearlcatchers can. His mane is thick and soft, and he keeps himself groomed and decorated in an attractive if lazy fashion. It is rare to see Tisrin without flowers braided into in his mane, at least during the day. As a Wind dragon Tisrin is somewhat wary of the water, though he will occasionally wade in or paddle about to cool off, or engage in vigorous splash fights. Tisrin's pearl is an unremarkable pinky-yellowy pearl colour, and Tisrin often keeps it stashed away in hidden corners of the Shore rather than carry it around with him.

My guilt, always there on my deepest layers. I'll never make up for the slights I do, errors I make and have made, but I will continue to try. A hundred joyful hearts don't cancel out a single tear, but they make it hurt a little less I think.
378.png Familiar:
'Twinkle' is Tisrin’s world-weary mouse companion. The stoic little creature has been fully bonded with his dragon for many years, and has endured more than his fair share of petting and cooing and fussing from the Pearlcatcher. Though Twinkle is not quite sapient, he seems to be able to communicate thought, emotions, and basic concepts, an ability that proved important during the Swords War but which is usually used to keep track of the rest of the clan’s goings-ons. Other dragons refer to the familiar as Tisrin's 'gossip mouse', a relic of the Ridgeback Lizan's nicknaming tendencies.

Kin & Others
You are literally more likely to see Lerronirg and Tisrin next to each other than either of them alone. The green Mirror is Tisrin's straight man, background commentator, and most of all; best friend. The two Wind dragons are the resident beach bums of Driftwood Shore, lounging about and greeting everyone who happens to walk by. Tisrin tries to be close friends with everyone but with Lerronirg he does not need to try; the Mirror accepts him like nobody else, and he is one of the few people Tisrin feels he can confide 'selfish' emotions to: His fears, worries, hatreds, and aggravations. Tisrin struggles with grief since the War, but also feelings of guilt and shame. Guilt because surely somehow some of the War was his fault, and shame at his hatred of Rennic, the traitor. Rennic used to share Tisrin's role- a golden friend to all- and even if he never liked the Tundra himself he was delighted that he brought happiness to others. It is not in his nature to hate, and his bitter loathing towards his former clanmate feels shameful and wrong.

Offspring:
Tisrin hasn't many mortal children; the most notable of them are nest siblings Allspice and Kellinlii, who are both subtle and strange and take more after their mother Yvelte. Tisrin adores family, but is too lazy and haphazard to correspond with them frequently, instead making a huge fuss of them on the rare occasions they visit.
