Serikkekekessaka
Clan Surgeon - Four of Pentacles
5710.png
If it weren't for Dr. Serik's hideous personality, the Shore's doctor would likely be a highly respected icon among the clan. As it is, although his skills are undeniably excellent, he is generally despised. Serik's priorities are himself, his hoard, and his equally unpleasant mate Chessi. Their riches are kept separate, not shared with the clan, and the doctor frequently leaves the clan to sell his services elsewhere.

Medically speaking, Serik is a golden star. His specialty is surgery- using nimble claws and feet and even wings, operating swiftly and neatly with scalpel and thread- but he is also well-versed in all manner of physical ailments. His skills only improved during the hectic practice the War provided, fast triage and trauma sharpening his instincts. Although he no longer charges his own clanmates for his services, dragons are still reluctant to be treated by him, as he is heedless of discomfort and tends to insult his patients when they complain of it.

Serik has a history of constantly improving himself, buying scroll after scroll to ensure he and his mate produced the highest-selling, most prestigious offspring possible. He is exceedingly proud of his current form and looks down on anyone without the means or desire to change their genes from such common types as Basic or Tiger, or indeed anything less than his own glittering gem primary. Serik can be very aggressive in defense of his personal stash of treasure, and dragons (particularly Pix) have learned that raiding it is simply not worth the confrontation with a hissing, highly agile Spiral armed with a very sharp scalpel and detailed knowledge of dragon anatomy.

For obvious reasons, Serikkekekessaka is referred to 99% of the time simply as "Serik". Serik would prefer people to use his full name, and would exceptionally prefer people to add "Doctor" to that. Along with flattery (to which he responds very well) calling him "Dr. Serik" or even better "Dr. Serikkekekessaka" is an easy way to make him squirm and preen and encourage him to be more easily swayed.

Serik graced Random Dragon with his obnoxious presence on April 08, 2020, at roughly 21:27 FR time.

History: Serik was found as an egg, near the silty grasslands of Driftwood Shore. He is consciously unaware of the fact that he was passed back and forth rather reluctantly before he began to hatch and it was too late for him to be traded. Subconsciously, however, this may have had a marked effect on his personality. He began life as a Fae, but quickly decided this was not for him, and began his process of self-customisation. He spent much time abroad, mostly in the Scarred Wasteland, learning his medical craft. Serik weathered the War of Swords with distaste, before the death of his daughter Ulaya brought the gravity of the war closer to his attention. Having been a Fae, Serik has a natural understanding for the finned Fae emphasis language, though he can no longer replicate it himself.

Physical: A fairly long, wiry Spiral, Serik retains some traits from his original nature as a Fae. His ears are slightly webbed, and his wing fingers are long and spidery at the end of broad wings. His flight is typically Spiral, however, moving in powerful loops and whorls through the air; slow, but enduring. Having been born into a Water clan Serik is a surprisingly competent swimmer, though he doesn't swim for pleasure and neither does he fish, so he is a rare sight anywhere near the water. While not a fighter, Serik is capable of defending himself with sizzling little Plague curses, and has an exceptionally strong grip with his glittering body that he has been known to employ as a living tourniquet.

I am simply better than you. I've worked harder than you to get to where I am. What have you done to improve yourself? Nothing. You pitiful thing. Nobody will ever respect you.
785.png Familiar:
The Streak, like Serik, is an impeccably clean creature with no compunctions about stabbing people. Serik uses its telepathically-linked assistance when performing surgery; its glittering metallic beak and flexible, tough pinion feathers as valuable an asset as the most expensive Fire-forged tools.

Kin & Others
Serik's glittering Ridgeback mate is many many times larger than he is, and Serik is smitten with every inch of her. He adores her mercurial nature, her selfishness, he even adores when she torments him by flirting with others or denying his affections. Chessi is essentially the only person who can get away with indiscriminately raiding Serik's hoard, though the Spiral writhes and plaintively complains as she spends it all on things such as expensive apparel and rare familiars. Serik shares a den with his mate, and they are usually found together when Serik is not working, with Serik coiled lovingly about her arms or neck. Ulaya was Serik's firstborn daughter and his feelings about her are.. difficult. Originally she assisted him in his operating theatre, but following the raid on the Cliff Caves during the War she lost her life, Serik unable to save her. He feels as if he should easily dismiss this- he dismisses every other sentimental nonsense after all- but the fact that she remains in his thoughts and won't seem to go away bothers him tremendously. What does it mean?? How can he get rid of this??

Offspring:
Serik's focus on breeding his children for worth has led to very poor relations with them. He cares nothing for their fates and most of his children have gone to uncaring homes, or have chosen to take their services to the gods. A notable exception is Nulliparas, whose clan cared for her health issues and took her in after Serik experimentally repaired her failing lungs.
