In another world, Alcyone is the name of both a mystical princess and the brightest star of the Pleides, and Alcyone the librarian always smiles a little bit at this, even though the smile would often turn just slightly wistful when she reads of the princess' loss. Yes, she has lost her beloved Ceyx as well, he has gone to serve the deity of Sornieth's wide seas, but at least...

At least she still has—and will always have—her books.

Alcyone clasps her ice tome close and melts away the tiny sparkling snowflake seal, letting the small stream of water fall freely to the ground. Perhaps that is how she weeps and remembers. After all, books are all stories, and everyone become stories in the end. She would just stand sentinel and become a witness—she's seen and loved too much, not just Ceyx, but also herself, and everyone who has talked to her and taken a book from her hands.

An aging scholar and mother, Alcyone no longer ventures out into the open often, preferring to only wholly participate in events of the Crystalline Gala, but her wisdom is still celebrated by those of her clan, who adorn her in beautiful jewelry and regalia from her homeland as they visit her to hear her speak. They understand that it is in the nature of ice and books to deliberate; although Alcyone no longer fights or officially speaks for the clan, her advice allows the clan to safely traverse through most dangers and even the chillest winters. Many seek her out when they go through heartbreaks, feel lost, or do not know their calling—in her beautiful refuge of snowflakes and leather-bound books, Alcyone has an answer—and love—for all.
