River Song was raised from birth by a clan of vicious warriors, trained to be a cold-hearted assassin and engineered to feel thrill in the rush of the kill. She was their greatest project, a dragon born to kill their one true enemy: the Doctor. They hadn't counted on her unique healing powers similar to that of the Doctor or her hardheaded determination to fall in love with her would-be victim.

It wasn't really her fault. After escaping the compound where she'd spent her hatchlinghood, River was taken under the wing of a young dragon who worshipped the Doctor as an imaginary friend who would one day whisk her away into a fantastic world of dreams. She was heavily rooted in skepticism, as these fantasies were the complete opposite of the madman she'd been trained to kill. Until she met him.

She tried to carry out her assignment like a good psychopath, she really did. But that's the trouble with Time magic. Timelines get completely messed up, and you can end up meeting someone in the wrong order. (Not many in Ralakay believe River is actually a time traveler, but given Pandorica's strong connection to the Timeholder, it isn't entirely impossible. Just highly unlikely.) When River met the Doctor for the first time, he had known her for years. She tried, but was unable to convince herself his feelings were insincere and that he was just buying time.

In the end, River ended up saving his life and turning against the clan that had raised her. He begged her to stay with him, but she decided she'd rather choose her own life for once and decided to take her love of history and aptitude for Time magic and become an archeologist... just one that tends to investigate events before they happen.

Sassy and full of attitude, River radiates sexiness from her glittering gems to her curly mess of a mane and she knows full-well how to use it to her advantage. She can weasel her way into getting just about anything she wants, be it information, a position, or some sort of rare artifact to sell on some black market. She isn't evil, but a girl has to look out for herself now and then.

Perhaps that's why the Doctor was taken with her, aside from the fact that she was madly in love with him when he first met her (pesky time travel): they think relatively alike. River is not shy to get her claws a little bloody when she needs to, but even the Doctor will admit sometimes there is no way around that. (He actually finds her willingness to spring to action for the right cause a little bit sexy, though he'll never admit it.)

River isn't as well known among Ralakay Glen, though she saunters around as though she owns every building and tree, but one fact is undeniable: she is the Doctor's wife. She is not shy with her displays of affection (especially around the Tenth Doctor, as she enjoys watching him squirm) and always addresses him with her trademark "Hello, Sweetie." whenever she strides into camp from her latest mission.

She has no real role around camp, other than lending a paw when she can. She is usually off on some archeological dig anyway, or running across Sornieth with the Doctor and Idris. Fayne often feels as if his toes are constantly being stepped on as there are few ruins of any significance that River hasn't discovered first. She claims she isn't looking for historical evidence or the culture of ancient clans, but the presence of alien life, and the existence of Time Lords, as if the two Doctors are the only ones left alive.
