Biography
Dagr
~Artist~
~Artist~
With the militaristic bent of the Outpost, it's not entirely surprising that Dagr is the sole artistic Wildclaw in residence. In fact, it's fairly surprising that he's even in the Clan at all. If asked about it, it's likely that he will deflect and laugh and talk about how "of course such a dreary place needs an artist in residence to liven it up!"
...which is not untrue, but it's not the entire truth either.
The Outpost does need an artist to liven the place up in order to keep the mental wellbeing of its members up.
However, to reduce Dagr's role to just that would be to do him a disfavor.
A huge one, even if he himself wouldn't mind at all. He prefers being seen as nothing but the simple artist, even if he's the one who keeps the sun shining - literally.
Dagr is gifted with extremely strong, extremely pure Light magic. He cannot use it for much - it's too strong. But he can direct it somewhat. And when he directs it upwards into the dark mist hanging over the Hewn City, the veil falls away, allowing the sun to shine down.
Even so, the darkness eats away at his cheer and energy and he has to take trips out to other parts of the Sunbeam Ruins regularly to soak up some untainted sun. Still, he stays. And he smiles.
Nattr, his sworn brother, has chosen the Outpost as his home, you see. That means it is Dagr's home too.
No matter what.
("Shut up Nattr, it's my choice and as long as you are happy here and they treat you well I am not leaving, and I'm not letting you leave either, you stupid feather duster.")
Besides, he found Eydis in the Outpost, so he's quite happy with how it all turned out in the end and happily dotes upon his "sun and stars". Or "muse", depending on what mood he's in at the moment - the billowing yellow colour streams and sun-over-water patterns reoccurring in many of his frescoes is the exact same that can be observed on Eydis' hide whenever she's diving.
It's an absolutely amazing sight on the dragoness herself, somehow made even more beautiful in Dagr's paintings. Visitors are often struck breathless when seeing them for the first time, unable to comprehend how such Light and beauty can be found in the depths of the Hewn City.
- Dagr's name means "sunrise" or "day".
