Long before his birth, Magus was doomed to die.

Prophesied by his mother, his magic will grow out of control, bringing ruin and damnation to their clan before eventually killing him. The problem is he doesn't know when it will happen. To filter his magic, Magus wears an amulet he refuses to take off.

Magus shelters himself from everyone, even his family. He believes it will help lessen the sorrow his predetermined death will bring. Dottie, a Painted Marionette, and Wisp, a Calculating Candelabra, are his only friends.

He has searched every tome, scroll, grimoire he can get his claws on for a solution and has come up empty.

Years in the future, but not many...

Magus will discover a way to control his magic only slightly too late, after it has already nearly ruined him and he has isolated himself. Though physically crippled, he will make his way back into society to share what he has learned and eventually find himself welcomed among others.

He will die surrounded by a family he pieced together after returning, well loved and satisfied with what he did with his life.
