Dragon Log
Like his father Nimby, and all Ridgebacks of the Clan, this dragon likes to read. Unlike Nimby and Norberta, however, Beeb's favorite scrolls are Science-Fiction..whatever that is. After enjoying a rather hilarious pack of scrolls about space, probability, and all other things under the sun--or is that the water?--whichever it was, his interests were set from that point on. And when a Cloud Chaser familiar attached himself to him...well, this Ridgeback just KNEW what his name had to be. The rest of the Clan tolerates his insanity--or is it improbability?--as best they can. Hopefully, he'll grow out of the Don't Panic phase eventually...
7-30-14: During the Lightning Festival this year, he stumbled upon a "Tesla Coil" skin in the Marketplace...which fits the persona he is trying for exactly. It isn't another head, but hey, you can't have everything!
10-1-14: As improbable as it seemed after so long, Beeb's Cloud Chaser familiar has Awakened! He is not sure whether to be excited for his friend, or to start worrying about the possibilities... after all, he does not yet have his towel!
10-18-14: Another chapter has opened in Beeb's life: his is now a mated dragon! He still isn't sure how it happened... but after all, stranger things have occurred, and Duskcloud is a nice Guardian, with a wonderful sense of humor... and he now has 2 eggs to watch over. He is trying very hard not to think of the odds of their hatching....
10-23-14: For once, probability turned out to be in his favor, and he is learning that "Don't Panic" may well be a mantra he can accept after all. Both eggs have hatched, and Beeblebrox is now the beaming father of two adorable little ones... they both take after their mother in race, but Beeb thinks he sees some of himself in his daughter already, and his son does seem to like books and scrolls... if only to chew on them.
10-27-14: In an attempt to get away from the hatchlings for a while, Beeb traveled to the Boneyard for the Riot of Rot, following a dream of his. Ever since he had been born, his father had regaled him with stories of Plague Flight and it's curious customs...and Beeblebrox had wanted to see the famous (was that infamous?) regions for himself. It might not be Magrathea, but it was still an interesting place....
10-31-14: Beeblebrox has returned from his journey, much humbled for the experience, and with a great many wonderful memories of the dragons he met while in the Boneyard. He had found a gathering of dragons from every Flight engaging in a lively debate with two Plague hosts about the merits of Plague Flight, and the differences between that Flight and others... the debate was as enlightening as it was enjoyable, and Beeb can not but miss the friends he made there, and hope that he may see some of them again.....
11-23-14: Worried by her mate's odd silence and almost humble attitude, Duskcloud went to the Clan Mother, and asked for permission for herself and Beeblebrox to be among the dragons traveling to the Rockbreaker's Ceremony. Duskshdaow agreed with the request, as she was equally concerned by Beeb's out-of-character behavior. Beeblebrox himself actually begged to be allowed to go, a far cry from his usual arrogant attitude. So now the wacky Ridgeback and his mate are at the Festival Grounds, and seem to be enjoying themselves…
11-24-14: Today Beeb is trying his luck at diving into a tub of water, looking for treasure. It looks like Beeblebrox's natural personality is returning with a vengeance... (

11-25-14: Beeblebrbox was so interested in diving, he didn't even notice how late it was. As a result, he didn't get to learn what he had found until the next day, when he found that he had won a Good Eater Award. (
) He is extremely happy with his prize, and it looks like both his good humor--and his wacky way of looking at the world--might have been completely restored--much to his mate's chagrin…. (

11-27-14: Festivals always bring the best--and the worst--out of the dragons of the Clan, and Beeb's mother Spellweaver is no exception. She and her mate, Runemaster, have recently been experimenting with magical foci, and the results over the last few days were, unfortunately, spectacular in the worst possible way... ( )
11-28-14: After digging through the night at the Festival--much to Dusk's chagrin and Beeb's amusement--the purple Guardian finally found her prize, and now it is the Ridgeback's turn to try… (
) This is rather important, as Dusk and Beeb are trying to find a “good gift” for Nightsedge to give to Eveningrose… (

11-29-14: Fortunately, the strange Ridgeback's idea of a "good gift" did not actually involve anything more improbable then a special spell to go along with the Necklace that Night was already making. The attempt was greeted with relief from Duskcloud and Nightsedge, and even got a smile of appreciation from Eveningrose (directed at Night, of course). Even better, Spellweaver and Runemaster did not find their "C4," and the Clan was not banned from the Festival Grounds before the end of the week. Not a bad experience, really, even with the all too probable explosion in the middle of the week....
12-12-14: After a wacky, wonderful time at the Rockbreacker's Ceremony, Beeb returned home once again returned to his usual, vibrant, self. His mate, however, was a bit concerned by his new addiction to trying out various improbable--and dangerous--feats--the attempt to drown himself really bothered her--so she suggested a new pastime for him: What would be more improbable than a Ridgeback Scholar becoming a Mentor in the Coliseum? Beeblebrox loved the idea, and began at once. His first two students, Mystery and Enigma, have been learning quickly, and he has high hopes for them.....
2-24-15: Beeb has found some fun at the Trickmurk Midway, playing all sorts of games, and winning all sorts of prizes. This place is perfect for him! (

Meanwhile, a Prank War "accidentally" started with Teeka's Clan has begun to get a bit out of control, as the Clan celebrates the Trickmurk Circus is a much different way than usual. The latest victim was poor Beeb. Apparently, Norberta sent a changing map to two Nocturnes, and after fruitlessly searching for a nonexistent treasure for some time, the two annoyed dragons finally realized the trick. They were NOT happy, and once they discovered the Clan that sent it, and the fact that it was a Ridgeback who created it, they decided to take revenge, creating two extremely itchy scarves, and leaving them 'Tu the moest handsoem rigeebak whoo is soe clevr'... (

And Beeb fell for it, hook, line and sinker, and needed to be rescued by an extremely annoyed Duskcloud... (

2-25-15: After Duskcloud confiscated his beautiful scarf, a disgruntled Beeb returned to the Midway, looking for his Clown Charger he won the day before (
), and ended up having a lot of fun with some more games. If he keeps this up, he will be out of treasure soon, but fortunately he isn’t there yet... ( 
) Extremely pleased with his loot for the day, Beeb came back to the caves to find that Duskcloud's idea of an answering prank was a slimeball, which led to a great deal of dirty laundry for poor Marigold the Skydancer, from Teeka's Clan, to deal with. Marigold was not pleased at all, and tried to get back at the Clan in her own way, creating a very unique food basket...

Marigold's prank has had an interesting result, however, thanks to the quick thinking of the Tundra Stargazer, who took the paradoxical food to Beebleborx, challenging him to prove that an insect can never taste like a sardine by eating one from the basket... (

Beeb is now happily munching through the improbably tasting food, his good humor completely restored…
2-26-15: He was so happy, in fact, that he has returned to the Midway yet again, for another day of fun... (

2-27-15: Oh boy...it looks like Beeb is getting a little carried away, as today he has played at almost every game on the Midway. And has managed, of all things, to win an orphaned Pearlcatcher hatchling. Hopefully the Clan won’t be too upset about this… (

2-28-15: And things are getting worse, as Beeb tried to play all the games in one day...which is, of course, why Duskcloud has decided to show up today. And she is not happy at all… (

2-28-15: Duskcloud had a very long talk to Beeb when they got home, and as a result, Beeb is, at the moment, behaving himself. Meanwhile, the little Shadowling has settled into the Clan...but not as Beeb and Dusk's son. Rather, he found himself a place with 2 Skydancers, instead. Beeb and Duskcloud are disappointed that they won't be able to raise him after all, but glad that he is content in his new home. As for the Clown Charger, he has found a nice place in the hoard to rest, having decided that he is definitely not interested in gambling dragons, or angry dragon mates. Perhaps he will find a quieter dragon to bond with, eventually...
11-5-15: Beebleberox had been staying home lately, but nothing could keep this particular Ridgeback contained forever. While this year's Riot of Rot was not as exciting for him, he found some wonderful fun on the way home, in Shadow Flight's Spooky Spree. A round of apple-bobbing was particularly interesting, yielding not only a nice apple, but a lovely new head adornment as well, thanks to the improbable make-up of the liquid in the cauldron....Perhaps the Aqua Deepsea Bulb will help him win the ladi--er, charm his mate? (

Whichever it is, he will figure it out later, as he needs to drop off some things for the raffle... ( )
11-6-15: Against her better judgement, Duskcloud has agreed that her mate could return to the Tangled Wood for another day of fun--as long as he took a chaperone with him. Unfortunately, this turned out to not be the best idea, as poor Twilight found herself trying to rescue her irrepressible Clanmate from his own ego, when he tried to flirt with three different lady dragons at once… (

11-7-15: The quick intervention of another dragon of the Clan saved both Beeb and Twilight from disaster at the claws of the unknown females, but it is doubtful that Esoterica can save him from Duskcloud’s wrath, even if she wanted to… (

2-21-16: Another year, another Trickmurk Circus...another gambling spree? Oh no... (

2-22-16: Against all odds--or perhaps because of them--Beeb is extremely pleased with yesterday's mediocre results, and more than eager for more...and has had just as unsuccessful a time of it today, too, even though he has found an interesting—rigged--game involving smashing bottles… (

2-24-16: And Beeblebrox is continuing to have fun, with no sign of Duskcloud in sight... ( )
2-25-16: Beeb is ecstatic at his successes...and even more fascinated by his failures...and that Zeeba he managed to win at the Wheel is definitely going to be useful... ( )
And while playing that intriguing bottle game, one of the balls sprouted wings and flew away! Oh, this is wonderful! A Snitch for Norberta… ( )
2-26-16: Unfortunately, the odd ball had no interest in being caught, and Beeb was not a Seeker--or any other position for that matter--so his Aunt's surprise gift flew away without trouble… (

Meanwhile, Beeb had some fun at the Wheel of Chance, where he won yet another familiar. The proprietor made a comment about the game being perfect for someone who thrives on improbability, to which Beeblebrox can only agree. (
) However, Duskcloud has suddenly noticed where her mate is, and is not happy… (

2-27-16: Duskcloud’s arrival at the Midway has proved to be interesting for Beeblebrox. Perhaps the reason Dusk doesn't often play games of chance is because she usually wins? Beeb will have to contemplate that, as he also contemplates his new Festival Chest his mate gave him as a gift from her Watershot winnings--after she reamed him out for the amount of treasure he had spent, of course... ( )
2-3-17: During the 2017 Crystalline Gala, the Dragons who went on the Snowsquall Safari encountered and captured several unusual creatures. One of these was a cute little fish that Beeblebrox became extremely interested in. Not, of course, as food. No, that would be far too obvious. But what is the probability of a Ridgeback having a cute fish--or any fish, really--as a pet? Beeblebrox is thrilled with this newest addition to his “family”. "Shelmet," on the other hand, has not emerged from his helmet since Beeblebrox adopted him....
4-3-17: Duskcloud, Beeb's mate, has just acquired her Wind Holiday Familiar at last. Beeblebrox is quite happy for her, and a little puzzled by all the fuss from some of the rest of the Clan. After all, a light green goblin bonding with his purple mate seems quite reasonable to him....
2-1-18: Oh dear...Beeb has been playing with--or against--improbability again...this time at the Crystalline Gala's Carnival.... ( )
9-23-18: Beeblebrox and Duskcloud headed together to the Starfall Celebration this year, and Beeb decided to go for a grab out of the rather interesting pile of fascinating objects that they found in the forest. He was going to try for a Regular Bag--it's more improbable a win, after all--but Duskcloud, convinced him that it would be much more beneficial to the Clan if he tried for a Lucky Bag, so now he has a nice Glowstick for his Trophy Shelf, and the Clan has some new Dusklight Alchemist Tools...
1-30-19: Beeblebrox has signed himself up to play in the Sornieth Winter Games! After all, what could be more improbable than a book-loving Ridgeback dragon actually doing well as a Goaltender in Ice Hockey? For some reason, the Clan does not seem nearly as impressed... (

2-8-19: Despite Beeblebrox's best efforts--or perhaps because of them--the most improbable team did not beat the odds. Still, it was fun while it lasted, and Beeb now has a nice shiny Participation Medal for his Trophy Shelf. Maybe next year he will find an Improbability Drive to help them out, though turning the other team's forward into a whale or a bowl of petunias would almost certainly be frowned on. Ah, well, they can always try the boring avenue of "practice makes perfect," and maybe if they do Lughnasadh will stop growling at Beeb every time he comes near her...
5-24-20: While at the Greenskeeper Gathering this year, Beeblebrox and Duskcloud stopped by a strange window in the Games Convention Hall. The style was somewhat odd…and the Window itself seemed to be moving! They ended up studying the design for some time, while discussing Beeb’s absolute fascination with playing games of chance… ( )
5-26-20: And today Beeb was attracted to yet another Window, this one with a very odd design indeed. As he looked at it, he could help but think about his love of playing with improbability, and testing luck. (
) Hmmm…maybe there is a Game of that sort at the Convention? It’s worth a look…

)11-25-14: Beeblebrbox was so interested in diving, he didn't even notice how late it was. As a result, he didn't get to learn what he had found until the next day, when he found that he had won a Good Eater Award. (
) He is extremely happy with his prize, and it looks like both his good humor--and his wacky way of looking at the world--might have been completely restored--much to his mate's chagrin…. ( )11-27-14: Festivals always bring the best--and the worst--out of the dragons of the Clan, and Beeb's mother Spellweaver is no exception. She and her mate, Runemaster, have recently been experimenting with magical foci, and the results over the last few days were, unfortunately, spectacular in the worst possible way... (
)11-28-14: After digging through the night at the Festival--much to Dusk's chagrin and Beeb's amusement--the purple Guardian finally found her prize, and now it is the Ridgeback's turn to try… (
) This is rather important, as Dusk and Beeb are trying to find a “good gift” for Nightsedge to give to Eveningrose… ( )11-29-14: Fortunately, the strange Ridgeback's idea of a "good gift" did not actually involve anything more improbable then a special spell to go along with the Necklace that Night was already making. The attempt was greeted with relief from Duskcloud and Nightsedge, and even got a smile of appreciation from Eveningrose (directed at Night, of course). Even better, Spellweaver and Runemaster did not find their "C4," and the Clan was not banned from the Festival Grounds before the end of the week. Not a bad experience, really, even with the all too probable explosion in the middle of the week....
12-12-14: After a wacky, wonderful time at the Rockbreacker's Ceremony, Beeb returned home once again returned to his usual, vibrant, self. His mate, however, was a bit concerned by his new addiction to trying out various improbable--and dangerous--feats--the attempt to drown himself really bothered her--so she suggested a new pastime for him: What would be more improbable than a Ridgeback Scholar becoming a Mentor in the Coliseum? Beeblebrox loved the idea, and began at once. His first two students, Mystery and Enigma, have been learning quickly, and he has high hopes for them.....
2-24-15: Beeb has found some fun at the Trickmurk Midway, playing all sorts of games, and winning all sorts of prizes. This place is perfect for him! (
)Meanwhile, a Prank War "accidentally" started with Teeka's Clan has begun to get a bit out of control, as the Clan celebrates the Trickmurk Circus is a much different way than usual. The latest victim was poor Beeb. Apparently, Norberta sent a changing map to two Nocturnes, and after fruitlessly searching for a nonexistent treasure for some time, the two annoyed dragons finally realized the trick. They were NOT happy, and once they discovered the Clan that sent it, and the fact that it was a Ridgeback who created it, they decided to take revenge, creating two extremely itchy scarves, and leaving them 'Tu the moest handsoem rigeebak whoo is soe clevr'... (
)And Beeb fell for it, hook, line and sinker, and needed to be rescued by an extremely annoyed Duskcloud... (
)2-25-15: After Duskcloud confiscated his beautiful scarf, a disgruntled Beeb returned to the Midway, looking for his Clown Charger he won the day before (
), and ended up having a lot of fun with some more games. If he keeps this up, he will be out of treasure soon, but fortunately he isn’t there yet... ( ) Extremely pleased with his loot for the day, Beeb came back to the caves to find that Duskcloud's idea of an answering prank was a slimeball, which led to a great deal of dirty laundry for poor Marigold the Skydancer, from Teeka's Clan, to deal with. Marigold was not pleased at all, and tried to get back at the Clan in her own way, creating a very unique food basket...(
)Marigold's prank has had an interesting result, however, thanks to the quick thinking of the Tundra Stargazer, who took the paradoxical food to Beebleborx, challenging him to prove that an insect can never taste like a sardine by eating one from the basket... (
)Beeb is now happily munching through the improbably tasting food, his good humor completely restored…
2-26-15: He was so happy, in fact, that he has returned to the Midway yet again, for another day of fun... (
)2-27-15: Oh boy...it looks like Beeb is getting a little carried away, as today he has played at almost every game on the Midway. And has managed, of all things, to win an orphaned Pearlcatcher hatchling. Hopefully the Clan won’t be too upset about this… (
)2-28-15: And things are getting worse, as Beeb tried to play all the games in one day...which is, of course, why Duskcloud has decided to show up today. And she is not happy at all… (
)2-28-15: Duskcloud had a very long talk to Beeb when they got home, and as a result, Beeb is, at the moment, behaving himself. Meanwhile, the little Shadowling has settled into the Clan...but not as Beeb and Dusk's son. Rather, he found himself a place with 2 Skydancers, instead. Beeb and Duskcloud are disappointed that they won't be able to raise him after all, but glad that he is content in his new home. As for the Clown Charger, he has found a nice place in the hoard to rest, having decided that he is definitely not interested in gambling dragons, or angry dragon mates. Perhaps he will find a quieter dragon to bond with, eventually...
11-5-15: Beebleberox had been staying home lately, but nothing could keep this particular Ridgeback contained forever. While this year's Riot of Rot was not as exciting for him, he found some wonderful fun on the way home, in Shadow Flight's Spooky Spree. A round of apple-bobbing was particularly interesting, yielding not only a nice apple, but a lovely new head adornment as well, thanks to the improbable make-up of the liquid in the cauldron....Perhaps the Aqua Deepsea Bulb will help him win the ladi--er, charm his mate? (
)Whichever it is, he will figure it out later, as he needs to drop off some things for the raffle... (
)11-6-15: Against her better judgement, Duskcloud has agreed that her mate could return to the Tangled Wood for another day of fun--as long as he took a chaperone with him. Unfortunately, this turned out to not be the best idea, as poor Twilight found herself trying to rescue her irrepressible Clanmate from his own ego, when he tried to flirt with three different lady dragons at once… (
)11-7-15: The quick intervention of another dragon of the Clan saved both Beeb and Twilight from disaster at the claws of the unknown females, but it is doubtful that Esoterica can save him from Duskcloud’s wrath, even if she wanted to… (
)2-21-16: Another year, another Trickmurk Circus...another gambling spree? Oh no... (
)2-22-16: Against all odds--or perhaps because of them--Beeb is extremely pleased with yesterday's mediocre results, and more than eager for more...and has had just as unsuccessful a time of it today, too, even though he has found an interesting—rigged--game involving smashing bottles… (
)2-24-16: And Beeblebrox is continuing to have fun, with no sign of Duskcloud in sight... (
)2-25-16: Beeb is ecstatic at his successes...and even more fascinated by his failures...and that Zeeba he managed to win at the Wheel is definitely going to be useful... (
)And while playing that intriguing bottle game, one of the balls sprouted wings and flew away! Oh, this is wonderful! A Snitch for Norberta… (
)2-26-16: Unfortunately, the odd ball had no interest in being caught, and Beeb was not a Seeker--or any other position for that matter--so his Aunt's surprise gift flew away without trouble… (
)Meanwhile, Beeb had some fun at the Wheel of Chance, where he won yet another familiar. The proprietor made a comment about the game being perfect for someone who thrives on improbability, to which Beeblebrox can only agree. (
) However, Duskcloud has suddenly noticed where her mate is, and is not happy… ( )2-27-16: Duskcloud’s arrival at the Midway has proved to be interesting for Beeblebrox. Perhaps the reason Dusk doesn't often play games of chance is because she usually wins? Beeb will have to contemplate that, as he also contemplates his new Festival Chest his mate gave him as a gift from her Watershot winnings--after she reamed him out for the amount of treasure he had spent, of course... (
)2-3-17: During the 2017 Crystalline Gala, the Dragons who went on the Snowsquall Safari encountered and captured several unusual creatures. One of these was a cute little fish that Beeblebrox became extremely interested in. Not, of course, as food. No, that would be far too obvious. But what is the probability of a Ridgeback having a cute fish--or any fish, really--as a pet? Beeblebrox is thrilled with this newest addition to his “family”. "Shelmet," on the other hand, has not emerged from his helmet since Beeblebrox adopted him....
4-3-17: Duskcloud, Beeb's mate, has just acquired her Wind Holiday Familiar at last. Beeblebrox is quite happy for her, and a little puzzled by all the fuss from some of the rest of the Clan. After all, a light green goblin bonding with his purple mate seems quite reasonable to him....
2-1-18: Oh dear...Beeb has been playing with--or against--improbability again...this time at the Crystalline Gala's Carnival.... (
)9-23-18: Beeblebrox and Duskcloud headed together to the Starfall Celebration this year, and Beeb decided to go for a grab out of the rather interesting pile of fascinating objects that they found in the forest. He was going to try for a Regular Bag--it's more improbable a win, after all--but Duskcloud, convinced him that it would be much more beneficial to the Clan if he tried for a Lucky Bag, so now he has a nice Glowstick for his Trophy Shelf, and the Clan has some new Dusklight Alchemist Tools...
1-30-19: Beeblebrox has signed himself up to play in the Sornieth Winter Games! After all, what could be more improbable than a book-loving Ridgeback dragon actually doing well as a Goaltender in Ice Hockey? For some reason, the Clan does not seem nearly as impressed... (
)2-8-19: Despite Beeblebrox's best efforts--or perhaps because of them--the most improbable team did not beat the odds. Still, it was fun while it lasted, and Beeb now has a nice shiny Participation Medal for his Trophy Shelf. Maybe next year he will find an Improbability Drive to help them out, though turning the other team's forward into a whale or a bowl of petunias would almost certainly be frowned on. Ah, well, they can always try the boring avenue of "practice makes perfect," and maybe if they do Lughnasadh will stop growling at Beeb every time he comes near her...
5-24-20: While at the Greenskeeper Gathering this year, Beeblebrox and Duskcloud stopped by a strange window in the Games Convention Hall. The style was somewhat odd…and the Window itself seemed to be moving! They ended up studying the design for some time, while discussing Beeb’s absolute fascination with playing games of chance… (
)5-26-20: And today Beeb was attracted to yet another Window, this one with a very odd design indeed. As he looked at it, he could help but think about his love of playing with improbability, and testing luck. (
) Hmmm…maybe there is a Game of that sort at the Convention? It’s worth a look…
