Dragon Log

An extremely young hatchling from Ice Flight, she came to the Clan in the hope of finding friends that would understand her. Within minutes of arriving, she had discovered several other Coatls who used focus stones for their magic, and happily joined in their “circles.” Now she is an established member of the Clan, and looking forward to what happens next…

11-1-14: Her Marbled Jester familiar has awakened! The bunny is extremely restless, and unlikely to stay in Emerald's sleeping cave long, now that he is fully mature...

11-2-14: In a surprise move, the Marbled Jester went out and found a new companion for his friend: a Frostbite Hummingbird! Emerald is thrilled with this gentle reminder of her birth clan....

12-18-14: As the younger Coatls begin their project, Emerald has eagerly joined them. It is far, far better than the alternative….though she does wonder who will win her first….

1-31-15: The Frostbite Hummingbird has Awakened! Emerald is thoroughly enjoying her friend's pleasure...

2-11-15: During one of his explorations, the Frostbite Hummingbird found a Polarfreeze Defender, and brought him home to introduce him to Emerald. The Ice Bear took an immediate liking to the young Ice Coatl, and the rest of the Clan is thrilled that Emerald has found yet another friend from her Birth Flight....

2-15-15: Emerald's eagerness and enthusiasm has paid off! She was courted by several different Coatls, and had a hard time making up her mind, but in the end she did choose....

2-18-15: 3 Eggs now sit in the nest, waiting to hatch.....

4-28-15: 2 of Emerald's three children are still not sure what to do with themselves.... but the third has most definitely found his place. After a time as a dragon in another Arcane lair, where he found a mate and had three wonderful children, Snowball journeyed to the Ice Flight, and now serves the Icewarden! Meanwhile, all three of Emerald's grandchildren have chosen to help the Arcanist. Quite the accomplishment for Emerald's youngest child....

5-12-15: The Polarfreeze Defender has Awakened! Emererald is quite happy for her friend. The advent of her son's name has her stumped, however. She was planning to name her bear that.... but now she has to come up with something else..... what kind of names would work for an Ice Bear? She'll have to think on this...

5-15-15: Emerald has found a name for her friend! For some reason, he seems to be a little... startled... by her choice, but Emerald is certain it fits the Furball perfectly....

6-16-15: As the latest round of the Coatl Project draws to a close, Emerald and he chosen mate are proudly watching 3 eggs on the hatching grounds.... with her choice this time, Emerald isn't sure what kinds of children she will get. But one thing is certain: they will be unique!

6-28-15: Em is quite proud of her new hatchlings--though they are no longer hatchlings, of course. 7 days after their birth, they are powerful Coatls in their chosen homes...which in the case of her 2 sons is the same Clan, in Wind Flight. Her daughter is still residing at the birth Clan, but may leave soon...

7-20-15: Only a few days after Emerald leaned that her youngest sons had chosen their names at last, she received a message from an extremely excited Chaya: he was chosen to serve the Windsinger! Apparently, his adopted Flight's God was impressed with him,, and wanted him in his own ranks. Em is a little stunned, but very happy for her son...

7-22-15: The news of his brother's good fortune seems to have inspired Emerald's oldest son. He has decided to leave the nest--and his Clan--and seek his fortune in the outside world. A visiting dragon from another Arcane Clan invited him to travel with him, and the newly christened Seascape happily journeyed to his new Clan....

9-9-15: The youngest daughter of the last hatching has finally decide to seek her fortune elsewhere.... and she, too, has traveled to Wind Flight! Emerald can't figure out what the allure of that Flight is, but it must be something special to have claimed 3 of her children..... One of whom, Komur, is clearly enjoying himself in his chosen Clan...

....and Emerald's oldest son seems to have found his place at last--as a helper to the Lightweaver. Before he journeyed to her lair, however, he mated with a beautiful Spiral and had 2 sons of his own--both of whom now serve the Arcanist.

1-24-16: The Clan has decided to enter the 2016 Sornieth Winter Games! They are being held at the Ice Festival Crystalline Gala, and many of the dragons are excited... while others seem oddly hesitant. Emerald in particular had to encouraged by her friend Runemaster before she agreed to sign up… ( )

1-25-16: Emerald did not win, but she has discovered that Runemaster is correct, and Sledding is indeed something that you never forget--and always enjoy. It is likely that she will attempt to continue this new hobby elsewhere... oh dear... is she trying to create snow on that hill?!

2-28-16: During the Shadow Festival this year, one of Emerald's Clanmates bumped into a very familiar Coatl while at the Trickmurk Parade. Upon returning home, Twilight informed Emerald that her son Komur was well settled in his chosen Clan under the stewardship of LadyRiat...and the entire Clan had moved to Dragonhome! Emerald is extremely pleased for her son, and wishes him well in the land of Earth....

10-14-16: Emerald's 2nd oldest child has found a home for himself at last.... in Ice Flight! Though he has not yet chosen a name, he seems content enough in the Clan of AGiraffeAndAHalf, and Emerald wishes her wandering son luck....

1-23-17: And once again Emerald has entered the Sornieth Winter Games, though this time it was of her own volition.... ( )

1-31-17: Unfortunately, Emerald's efforts were not quite good enough to achieve a high score. Still, while not high enough--again--for a medal, her score was certainly not abysmal... and she has found a new pastime to add to her repertoire--if she can ever figure out how to make snow stay in Arcane lands....

2-10-17: Partly to cheer Emerald up after her two-year losing streak--not that she needs it--and partly to prevent Nebula from getting any unfortunate ideas, Duskshadow decreed that Em should be given first shot at bonding with the Frozen Goblin acquired at the Gala this year. None of the rest of the Clan argued, and within minutes of meeting each other Emerald and the Goblin had begun to form a connection....

5-12-17: Arcticus has Awakened! Em is ecstatic, and can’t wait to see what her friend will do with his newfound energy. Hmmm…perhaps he can help her figure out how to make snow in the Isles? It’s worth a shot…

1-28-18: Emerald has come a long way from the anxious young dragon who once attended the Sornieth Winter Games with extreme reluctance. This year, she is very much looking forward to the games, and hoping that she may at least win a medal. There are, however, a few minor pitfalls that need to be navigated first, especially when Runemaster is with her and up to his old tricks with rune symbols and explosions... ( )

1-29-18: Em managed to rescue Rune from the security dragons, but it was a near thing. A VERY near thing. She decided to try something else today--with mixed results: She brought Spellweaver along to distract Runemaster from further mischief. Unfortunately, the two Spirals together can be even more of a problem than one of them acting alone… ( )

Fortunately, Emerald was able to stop the weather cyclone in time, and even get to the Sornieth Winter Games booth before it closed for the day. As a result, not only did Emerald get to enter the Luge Event again this year, she also got to participate on the same day that she signed up... ( )

1-31-18: Emerald was relaxing, having finished her Event in good time, when Meteor shocked the Clan by announcing that she wished to compete in the Speed Skating completion. While most of the Clan is reeling from the shock of Meteor apparently having wanted to compete for years—she never said a word, after all—and Verdigris is ranting about having been roped into a training regime, that prevented him from being able to keep a “proper protective eye” on his sister, Emerald is far more intrigued by the fact that Meteor managed to convince the Snowflake Nymph to make a cold area. It seems that Meteor may just have solved Emerald’s three-year problem of how to make snow…Now all she has to do is attract the Nymph's attention...

2-6-18: Emerald's losing streak, unfortunately, continues. She did not win the Luge this year either. The Clan was a little anxious over what the determined young dragon would do if she lost again, but it seems they need not have been worried: Em has already begun a new project, courting the Snowflake Nymph with the stated intent of getting the Nymph's help to make snow, which she can then use to practice her sledding on. So far, the Nymph does not seem interested in bonding, but Emerald is patient. And perhaps, if this works, the snow will give her the advantage she will need to win next year? They will just have to wait and see....

2-27-18: Patience can, sometimes, pay off, and it has this time: The Snowflake Nymph has accepted a familiar bond with Emerald. It seems that she simply wanted to wait until she finished reading her latest book before agreeing to become Em's special companion. Now, however, she is quite happy with the arrangement, and already mapping out where she will put her gathered snow...

6-2-18: The Snowflake Nymph has Awakened! Emerald is excited at the new maturity of her latest companion, and happily looking forward to the first snowmound, now that the Nymph's magic is fully mature...

12-11-18: A visiting dragon recently brought the Clan news of some former Clan members who have moved on to other Clans and Lairs. Emerald is very pleased to learn that her last, unnamed, son has finally settled down completely in his adopted Clan. He has taken the name Triton, and seems quite content with his life at last...

1-25-19: After almost a full moonturn and half of no new auras appearing, the Clan had begun to wonder if the phenomenon had ended as mysteriously as it began. Apparently, however, the magic that caused these strange--though beautiful--visual demonstrations of magical energy had simply paused, not ended. Today no less than 4 dragons have acquired new Halos! While some those who did were obvious choices, the Clan is startled that Emerald is among that number. It isn't the fact that she has a Halo that surprises them, but rather the kind she has developed. She has not often used Earth magic, so the sight of Crystalcourt Halo was a bit of a shock, and many wonder if it will stay for long...

1-31-19: Another year, another Sornieth Winter Games, and another try at the Luge... ( )

2-1-19: Emerald is a bit startled, today. While she was waiting for her scores, she started using Ice Magic to create sculptures in the snow. As this was not an official Event, doing so would not disqualify her, and it is a hobby that she enjoys. The reaction of the dragons around her, however, alerted her to something unusual, and when she glanced into one of her own frozen sculptures, she found out why: Emerald’s Halo has changed, now incorporating a beautiful Glitterfreeze Halo, which blends perfectly with the Crystalcourt Halo already there. Em is in awe of this new development, and not sure why she is the one to be so honored, when there are far more powerful Ice Dragons in the Clan. Perhaps it’s a sign of favor for the Games? She can only hope...

2-9-19: It may have been a sign of favor, but it was not an indication of a win. Once again, poor Emerald is returning home without a medal....but this year she did get a gift, of a sorts, and a reason to keep trying, when the announcer actually took time out from announcing winners to make a special comment about Emerald’s constant participation in the games! ( )

And so Emerald is even more determined than she was before this year's Games began. ( ) In fact, she is even considering asking Duskshadow—and Lughnasadh, of course—if she can set up a permanent Luge track in the Gaming Cave. This should be interesting...

1-28-20: And once again the Crystalline Gala--and far, far, more importantly, the Sornieth Winter Games--has arrived! This year the entire Clan has decided to attend, whether watching or competing. Emerald, is, of course, once more competing in the Luge. ( ) Will this be her year? The whole Clan hopes so…

2-1-20: Emerald gave it her best effort, and but it was not to be. Once again, she was unable to bring home a medal. The Clan is beginning to wonder if maybe Em should try another sport, but, when this was tentatively suggested to her, the determined Coatl refused to even consider such a thing. After so long, this situation appears to have become a private challenge for her, and she WILL get a medal in this game, no matter how many years it might take…

2-2-20: After a stressful time back at the Lair, courtesy of a wildly out of control Chaos Mage, it is almost a relief for all those who competed in the Winter Games this year to indulge in the (relatively) simple task of breaking down camp while waiting for their results… ( )

2-10-20: The Clan waited with Emerald until the end of the Event, no one wanting to force the homesick Ice Dragon to leave until absolutely necessary, and it’s a good thing they did! To Emerald’s complete shock--and unending joy-- there was a pleasant surprise waiting for her…. ( )

…And now Emerald is even more eager for next year to come, when her Clan will be inducted into the “Clan Achievements” list…and she will be carrying the Winter Games Flag! ( ) Who would have ever thought that she would have achieved this? Certainly not Emerald…

1-23-21: It is that time of year again, and Emerald has already headed off to the Southern Icefield and the Sornieth Winter Games. This year she is particularly interested in the Games, as she was promised a special honor, carrying the Flag at the start of the Games…

1-24-21: And Emerald had an even better award than she expected! Not only did she get to carry the Flag at the Opening Ceremonies ( ), she was presented with a beautiful medal, as well! (
) The Clan’s resident Luge Athlete could not be happier, and she hasn’t even competed this year yet….

1-26-21: The Sornieth Games are continuing, and it is time for Emerald’s Event at last. First, however, she has entered a new side Event this year: A Costume Contest! Of course, there are some in the Clan who want her to cover her tail to try to win the contest, but she knows that that would a very bad idea, as she needs the tail for balance ( ). She will just have to try with the Gloves, Goggles, and Coat. And afterwards, she has a Luge Event to win…. ( )

2-7-21: Once again, Emerald did not, in fact, win “her” Event. Nor did she win the Costume Contest that she had entered, either. Even so, she appears much happier this year than she has been in a long while. She has already hung up her special Achievement Medal, and is wandering around the caves with a star-struck look in her eyes. It seems that her double defeat has in no way dampened her enthusiasm for the Games. In fact….is that a countdown calendar?! Oh dear…
