Omega didn't always live at the Windswept Plateau. Ages ago, she lived in the seas of the Southern Icefields. Abandoned in the cold as an egg, an assumption would be that she doesn't survive. That would be incorrect. A brutal snowstorm struck the area, whipping about snow with torrential winds. The egg was blown from the cliff into the waters. Once again, her death would be the assumption, and once again, you'd be wrong. Assisted by the hardy shell her Birth-Flight offered her, she did not shatter on impact. She instead sunk below the waves. She was discovered on her journey down by a school of Maren who adapted to the cold temperatures. Many vouched to kill the dragon before it hatched, but others, who craved a truce with dragonkind, protested that the dragon should be raised by them, taught to understand equality between species. A vote was held, and the latter stuck. Omega hatched as an ice-born, Maren-raised dragon, a family line not many dragons can boast. Having hatched and grown underwater, Omega developed an ability to respire under the waves, through magic or skill is unclear. What was clear was that she had a gift for ice magic. In moments of stress or fear, her scales would begin to crystallize, which was a bit problematic living in the sea when ice would begin to form around her. Due to these difficulties, she developed a means to remain at ease and relaxed at all times, able to use her talents as she saw fit. As she grew, the Maren decided she should move on, and interact with her own kind. They hoped she would pass on her morals, though they feared she may instead be taught their ways. She left the sea for the first time since she hatched. She found her land-legs were not very sturdy, and decided she'd be much better staying in the water. When she joined the Clan on the hill, that's exactly what she did. She found a peaceful cove down by the cliffs of the Plateau, and while the temperatures were warm, she was easily able to manipulate this to a more suitable level. She doesn't spend an enormous amount of time with her new Clan, but they visit each other often enough that she feels a bond with her kin. |
