Pronounced: [iːsθɛn] (Or like the sounds in geese, Ethel, then.) Not that she minds.

Isthen is a Guardian who is happy to greet others of her kind, and if they're at the start of their path to find a charge, she is one to wish them the best of luck. She has a curious capacity for both subtlety and obviousness.

She's likely to try cajole the more serious members of the clan into relaxing, and has a propensity to find amusement in each day. She has also been known to check that any guests in the lair are content.

The Guardian keeps her charge closely bound next to her throat, and is happy to show it to anyone who asks, but only once. When she 'presents' it, it is with a quick motion, with nigh on if not nothing visible of the object within her claws, before it is whisked back into its place.

Isthen encountered members of the fledgling clan out hunting, stepping in to help when they got more than they bargained for.
She took a liking for them and decided to join them, saying that she'd like to help establish a harmony between the ruins, the structures of their dwellings, and the plant-life that they had been clearing out to make space for themselves.

During Melreyna's most difficult time, Isthen developed a quietly fierce protectiveness for her, such that she was one of those whom Inkfell had had to prove himself to on his return.

The Guardian is known for attempting to strike up a sing-a-long with the lyrics:
if yer happy and ye know it stomp yer feet,
if yer happy and ye know it stomp yer feet,
if yer happy and ye know it and ye really wanna show it,
if yer happy and ye know it stomp yer feet.

With later verses varying with 'bob yer 'ead' and 'give us a roar', but otherwise being very similar.

Those who've spent substantial time in the Guardian's company may notice sea shanties among her repertoire. If asked, Isthen will happily acknowledge she spent a substantial time sailing the sea of a thousand currents. The particularly suspicious might consider it worth remarking on that Isthen has good rapport with the former pirate Yersinia, while others will consider their boisterous personalities naturally lend themselves to camaraderie.
The Guardian is able to carry out basic first aid in the field, and there is disagreement over whether such is a perfectly reasonable as a useful skill, or reflects a dangerous past life.
