Biography
AURORA
Painter
Aurora is a painter. She mostly comes out at night to capture all colours of the northern lights. Sometimes she travels to the Southern Icefields to see the southern lights and paint them, too.
Some nights she spends gazing at the stars with Iilahviin since Iilahviin's love, Deyra, was sent away to serve the Gladekeeper. Aurora keeps her company and the two of them watch the night skies in silence.
Recently, a certain kind of urge has led Aurora to explore. Explore more than the well-known forests, the rivers or the gardens of the Labyrinths. She's ventured into caves, savannahs, and to the shore where the sand appears to be almost white. And she paints what she sees to bring back beautiful portraits of foreign landscapes to show her friends in the Order.
"Hold still," Aurora said. "I can't paint you like this." Aurora squinted from behind her canvas, looking at the Spiral girl before her with grim eyes. "Aoife, hold still."
Aoife tried her best to keep her posture, but "Oh, look, a butterfly! Bird!! Birdbirdbird!" kept coming from her as her eyes darted across the meadow in the Gladeveins. She looked up at the sun and closed her eyes. The warm rays of sunshine felt good and calmed her a little. Aurora took the chance to sketch, before Aoife decided to run after a squirrel. "She's so beautiful," Aurora thought. "A true gem." Something in her stomach was tingling as the Coatl girl drew her lines across the rough surface of the canvas.
Aoife had sat still for minutes when a butterfly arrived to flutter around her nose, only to settle right on top of it.
"Oh no!" Aurora grinned silently. "I have to sketch it, quickly."
When she was done, she was proud of herself - and of Aoife, who had curled up into a ball on top of a rock, listening to the calming flow of the streaming water. Aurora looked from her friend to her painting and back. She grabbed another canvas and started sketching again. A sleeping Aoife. "Nobody will believe me."
