Nest-Mage / Helpful Traveller

Azili grew up in her birth territory of the Starfall Isles, and while she's truly a mage at heart, her Snapper instinct to wander keeps her from settling down in a library or astronomy tower like many of her brethren. Instead of staying put in one place to study, she let the world and the dragons around her be her teachers. She would visit happy, prospering clans, and weary, ill-fortuned ones alike, working to earn her keep in each one while she learned about what they had done right, done wrong, wished they had done differently.

Again and again she heard one specific problem that wounded dozens of dragons to the heart- the issue of bearing children.

Some dragons had health problems that kept them from raising eggs. Others had great love for their mates in their hearts, but could not bring themselves to lay a nest. In clans where strength or beauty were especially valued, some dragons would be frustrated by the idea of what promising children they could have, except for the fact that the would-be parents did not care for each other at all.

Seemingly a problem without solution; but, Azili is an Arcane dragon, and since when have the Arcane allowed the laws of the world to stop them? All dragons are magical beings, after all. Why settle for such a limitation?

Figuring that Nature's magic would be the best place to learn about such a thing, since Nature is the element of life, Azili travelled next to the Viridian Labrynth and continued her studies. While she spent time dwelling on and absorbing the strong lines of Nature magic there, she found a spark inside herself that she hadn't known was there- a spark of her own Nature magic, left in her blood by her oldest known ancestors.

It was the last key she needed to unlock the problem. Combining her Arcane knowledge with that seed of Nature, Azili learned the secret to letting dragons lay eggs with nothing but magic.

It's a complicated process, never exactly the same twice, and it depends very much on the elements of the dragons involved and on the element of the nest. A Fire pair living in Nature's land, for example, might have to line the nest site with leaves and kindling, then light it aflame and sleep on either side of the bonfire until morning, when the rising sun will reveal a clutch of Nature eggs sprouting from the ashes. Dragons in Shadow might have to take turns whispering their secret hopes and fears into the empty nest before covering the whole thing up to hide it from sight for a full day and night, after which the nest can be uncovered again and will be found to be holding their clutch.

Now Azili continues to travel Sornieth, always listening for news about dragons having trouble with their nests. She still earns her keep in each clan, still keeps her eyes and ears open to learn as much as she can from each place, and she offers her help without charge.

Do you have dragons that are asexual, trans, not into each other 'that way' or anything along those lines that interferes with them breeding? But you wish they could have a nest without breaking character, messing up your lore, or going outside their relationship with a committed mate? Here's your solution! You're welcome to say that Azili visited your clan in her travels and helped your dragons learn how they can lay a nest without having to physically breed.

If you just want to mention that she helped your dragons or make up your own nesting method, that's fine too! Please go ahead and do it. She has one restriction: Azili will only help dragons nest if they appear to be at least somewhat kind and well meaning. She will not assist cruel or abusive pairs with their eggs. I personally think it's fine to write that kind of thing if that's the story you want to tell, but Azili's character would not want to help bring children into the care of evil or murderous people.
