Rough bio outline in progress - *Admires the work that both of her parents do in keeping their clan safe from the undead. They're clever and brave and strong and just... basically heroes in her eyes. *When her hide and feathers developed the same flame colored, stony growths that her father has, she was thrilled. It had to be a sign of the same favor that she was convinced went with and protected her dad in his battles. She took it to heart that it meant she could be strong like he was. *She began to exercise and train herself for combat, only studying with her mother as much as seemed absolutely necessary to avoid being reckless. As soon as she was old enough to be allowed to accompany anyone on any degree of hunting she threw herself into it. *And... sort of bounced off. She was smart, and had a Skydancer's inclination towards magic ability, but that wasn't what she wanted. That wasn't what she'd daydreamed about all this time. She hadn't trained all that time with her claws and teeth and muscles so she could throw spells. *After several rather bumpy attempts at contributing she had to face reality: straightforward physical combat might not be impossible for her, but it wasn't going to come naturally as some kind of special blessing. She was going to have to drag herself there. *She's resolved to put in the work and effort, however long it takes, but she's not happy about it. As a result she's brave, dedicated, and eager to help with almost any situation, but her temper is short and she mutters in frustration more often than she laughs. *Her younger brother Bram, who keeps his home base in the Arcane territory of Prufrock, is a friend who visits Topaz often. He's in an oddly opposite situation from her own- he was born a Snapper, but out of dedication to his mission he sought out magic that would change him into a Skydancer for the sake of mobility. Together the two of them discuss and spar in mock combat to help themselves train their quick, thin bodies into the powerful and terrifying fighting style that they both long to call their own. (Of course, going all out in fighting with someone you love and don't want to hurt requires gear for both defense to protect the body and offense to mimic the attacks of very real enemies.) |
