As old as grime and dirt from which he was once born, Ishmael is different from them all. Ishmael watches, gazes upon them with loving adoration, and lets them be; he does not interact with them, does not interfere with their (im)mortal meddling - he was here before they were and he knows that he will still be here once they all turn to fine dust, crushed by their creator. Even still, he looks out for them in his own way, for they are but pebbles in his neverending path full of boulders; their fleeting lives mere entertainment in his eyes - he is endless, they are not.
