As deadly and sharp as her name, Stiletto is by no means a dragon you want to cross. Everything about her, from her firm tone of voice to the regal way she carries herself speaks of her authority, and it's clear to all why she is the clan matriarch. Everything about her also speaks to the hatred she bears towards most others, making her intimidating to the point that all but the bravest dragons are seized with the terrified urge to flee as soon as they hear the staccato click of her steps coming towards them. She must tolerate her own clan, since there appear to be members of them left alive and whole, but her attitude towards outsiders is uncompromising and unforgiving. She makes no secret of the fact that she despises them, and makes very little attempt to welcome them unless they can serve some purpose to her or the clan. Even then, they are just barely tolerated, and she almost seems to wait with anticipation for them to break some rule so that they can be punished or expelled. Outsiders must watch their steps very carefully. Stiletto runs her clan with an iron fist, permitting no disobedience and no dragon to step out of line. Those who do are submitted to her signature punishment, a painful lashing, and those unlucky outsiders who incur it consider themselves fortunate if they're kicked out of the lair with any skin left on their back. Strong-willed, Stiletto brooks no disagreement with her policies, and the threat of punishment seems to keep most from challenging them, or her. She is a formidable warrior, who bears the scars from old battles. There are rumors that one particularly ugly set of scars was left by some past contender for her title as clan leader, and that she repaid him for the wounds by flaying him alive. Still, it's undeniable that she is a skilled and intelligent leader, able to keep order in a clan of rather... questionable dragons where a weaker leader might find themselves out of their depth. Despite her fearsome reputation, the dragons in her lair seem unconcerned around her, greeting their matriarch with respect, not cowering. They even describe her as a “calm and gentle leader” and praise her for her expert handling of clan matters. This can come across as quite unsettling considering Stiletto's title and reputation as a vicious, bloodthirsty, and decidedly un-gentle leader. Such statements can make the listener wonder, if they think their leader is calm and gentle, what does this say about the temperaments of the rest of the clan? |
