Tesla was adopted into Eledh-gweren by the clan's former leader, Jexpyte, when her former family decided to trek into the colder reaches of the Southern Icefield - a place not fit for hatchlings. Eledh-gweren was quite young yet when Tesla came to them, and she grew up alongside the clan more or less. She was a guiding voice and a comforting shoulder to Jexpyte when half the clan was lost in the perilous journey from the Reedcleft Ascent to the Twisting Crescendo. Her incredible flying skills were a great aid in the building of the new lair, on platforms twisted and strapped to balloons near the eye of the Crescendo.

Her companion, a Sköll named Kitsai, had tumbled out of the clouds one morning, injured from an attempt to devour the sun with some of his more experienced pack members: He'd nearly knocked Tesla from the sky, but after she nursed him back to health, he decided to abandon his kind's quest and aid his dragon savior in her efforts to rebuild the clan. Somewhere along the line, on one of the few occasions she had the time to venture away from Eledh-gweren as an ambassador, she encountered a particularly bitter snow squall and took refuge with a kindly clan in the Crags. It was here that she met Edison. He was the same age as she, but had never had the opportunity to travel beyond the Tundra. As the blizzard worsened and Tesla continued her stay, she spent more and more time with her fellow Skydancer, and the two fell slowly in love.

Suffice it to say, when Tesla returned to Eledh-gweren, she was not alone, and she laid her first nest of eggs in the sheltered embrace of their new lair, spinning endlessly within the Crescendo. Not long after, Jexpyte decided to retire, and having depended upon Tesla for support for so long and taught her everything she'd learned about leadership, there was really no other candidate. Tesla assumed control with ease, though with a not inconsequential amount of trepidation: However, she took to it like a duck to water.

In the late spring of her second year as leader, however, tragedy struck. The clan was blindsided by an unexpected, incredibly fierce battle between the Plaguebringer and Lightweaver - something that normally wouldn't effect them, except for the fact that their beloved Windsinger was now caught in the middle. Almost half the clan left to fly with the Plaguebringer, the only conceivable way they could see to aid their father. It struck a terrible blow to Tesla, one that was only made deeper and more painful by the abrupt departure of nearly all of her closest advisors... including Edison. Even though he, along with Tirneluial and Caladhel, had decided to fly to the Windsinger out of personal reasons, and all three had extensively discussed it with her, it was an incredibly difficult time in her life.

In fact, it was really only due to Blitz stepping in as co-leader during the upheaval that kept the clan - and Tesla - together. She calmly directed petty matters and squabbles away from their overloaded chieftess, as she struggled to work through the absence of every dragon she'd loved. She and Nefritis were the glue that held the shattered Tesla together.

Eventually she healed, but she became even more reserved than before, and dragons enjoying a bask in the evening sun can sometimes catch a few notes of a song the lonely Skydancer sings: A song she used to sing with Edison, that she now sings alone. She never clutched another nest.

. Edison // mate // The two of them were very close. She consulted him on most matters of leadership, if only for his honest opinion: He had no actual interest in leading the clan, and preferred to step back and let her handle everything while he watched bemusedly. They were a perfect complement to one another, and she never took another mate after he left.

+ Kitsai // familiar // Kitsai the Sköll nearly killed her on accident once, and has never let up in the aura that he could finish the job if he wanted to. He's almost the same size as the Skydancer, which makes him quite an intimidating presence indeed for those who don't know him: Those that do, however, know that he's really quite a softie and would never hurt Tesla. He keeps his terrifying aura to ensure loyalty from more untrustworthy dragons: And he was one of her biggest sources of comfort after what many clanmembers dubbed the "Exodus".

+ Blitz // advisor // Though it hasn't been confirmed by either of them, there are whispers through the grapevine that Tesla has been quietly grooming Blitz as her potential successor. She has experience, and no small amount of enthusiasm and loyalty, but some still have doubts as to her responsibility. In reality, Tesla has no such plan, and Blitz serves merely as an important advisor: But while the line of succession is in doubt, they let the rumors circulate.

+ Nefritis // advisor // The final remaining member of the Terrifying Trio, which used to be comprised of Lyora and Tirneluial as well, Nefritis - the first seer of the clan, now retired, but no less powerful - serves as the voice of reason. She gives advice on the wisest course of action, but never undermines Tesla's decisions by voicing what she was foreseen: Unless, of course, the danger is immediate. She became even closer with the chieftess after the Exodus of nearly half the clan, and after the departure of Lyora, Tirneluial, and Edison. Every few weeks, the two Skydancers fly loops around the Cloudsong, listening to the Chimes, and sing through their grief.

+ Lliant // adopted daughter // While Lliant was in no way a hatchling when her mother Lyora left to fly with the Plaguebringer, she was unused to the absence of such an important maternal presence. Tesla took her under her wing, and the two have become very close. Though it is unknown to all but a few, Lliant is the actual incumbent successor to the leadership of Eledh-gweren. She has a good head on her shoulders, and remains far more cheerful than her 'mother', which Tesla approves of: She thinks it is good that the future leader will bring some joy back to the clan.
