IVORY
she/they  ever since ivory was young she had the visions. they were mistaken for hallucinations, or a heavy imagination at first, as she was blind, so how was she seeing something? but over time her ramblings became truth, and her eyes, though sightless, quivered as she watched the sun, as if she was tracking something moving above her. their veil was bestowed upon them, to keep what errant light there was out of their eyes. the sunbursts of color weren't terribly distracting to ivory, but with their veil the visions came more regularly. they are chained to their visions- at their beck and call, and anything that could help them distinguish them could be of use. |
ivory sensed nexh'me long before anyone saw them. she felt them squirming in the heart of their new home, down in the depths of the hollow under the brook. he was agitated, restless, but not harmful. ivory let her slink her way through the hollow and past them, to see the light. it let out a creaky wail when, even in the bountiful shade, its eyes were too sensitive to withstand the sun. ivory shaded him with a cowl until he could see again.
"go and see," she said quietly. she felt its hesitation, seeming to realize there were more dragons in this clan than it had anticipated. "no one will harm you," she said, before she'd realized he wasn't afraid. nexh'me didn't fear- not really. she didn't understand them, but slowly she heard as they slithered back out into the light, leaving behind the smell of natural decay and fertile soil.
