The product of a less-than-happy partnership, Ishtar was nevertheless raised by her mother with compassion and love. For her part, Ishtar's never really thought about her beginnings. She loves Tiamat, and that's all that matters to her. She's never seen the lair she was born in? Her father has never so much as said a single word to her? Who cares. She's always had pet birds to play with and two dragons to care for her. Tiamat, for her part, has always fought hard to shield her youngest daughter from the harshness of the world, which has led to Ishtar being a bit more naïve than even her younger relatives.
She's a fiery, somewhat feisty mirror who's a lot more verbose than the stoic mirror stereotype. In fact, she reminds other dragons more of a spiral, chattering away while they try to work. Somehow Ishtar herself never seems to be working, instead spending her time pestering others. Tiamat tries to get her daughter to do something productive, if only to maintain that she's impartial and doesn't give Ishtar special treatment, but a lot of what she tells Ishtar about working hard and responsibility seem to go in one earhole and out the other. Ishtar also likes to wear loud, sometimes tacky jewelry, probably a nod to her other mom, Sunspot. Sunspot takes it as a 'compliment'. On the one hand, it's endearing that Ishtar seems to enjoy the jewelry she makes (and she often makes her special pieces at her request). On the other... gods, her taste is awful. Sunspot feels she shouldn't have to be dressing her adult daughter - but if she doesn't Ishtar will just look like a hot mess, so she sighs and does it anyway. Along with being chatty like a spiral, Ishtar is also prone to mimicry like a nocturne. Not only does she wear bird skull jewelry like the pieces Sunspot makes for her mother, she also quickly picks up words or phrases from other dragons. Ishtar is an adult, but habits like these make her come across as decades younger than she really is. First she was obsessed with Shale when she joined the clan - something that worried Tiamat, although saying so would be rude - pestering her to tell her all about how she got her awesome scars. For a while now she's been emulating Nanshe, running around in a matching cloak and acting like she's part of her Arcane cult. (There is actually a cult, right? Right...?) |
