Biography

Euclid, the resident cafe barista, could never catch a break.

Every day after work, she returned to her flat. She roomed with three other people -- FWOOSH [yes, all caps, it's on his birth certificate], Matcha, and Democritus.

It doesn't help that these three aren't really supposed to /be/ there. They're more or less agents of chaos that live to torment her specifically. What's the reason? For funsies.

Dealing with these oaflets every day was as if there were three radios constantly playing at full blast with an inability to turn down the volume -- one playing breakcore, another with nothing but TV static, and another that sounds oddly reminiscent of a subliminal playlist... with a restaurant menu as the subliminals and dial-up as the music.

Which sound is coming from which is anybody's guess, including their own.

--

"Be quiet, you!" Democritus hisses.

Euclid rolls her eyes, and looks at her cards. It's her turn to give the next question. She sits thoughtfully for a moment.

"Okay, put a card down if you've ever... wanted to eat glass."

Matcha, no hesitancy, puts down a card.

"Of course you would." Euclid says, dead-faced.

"What can I say? Sometimes it looks like candy. Especially stained glass, I've often licked temple windows to see if they were made of gummy."

"That's... disgusting. Who knows what sort of germs could be on those windows."

"That doesn't dissuade me one bit, in fact, that's part of the fun. One day, I'll be a veritable cesspool of diseases mixing, churning, waiting to be unleashed upon the world like a Pandora's Box of----"

"Okay, Patient Zero, put down a card just for that alone." Democritus says, brows furrowed in judgement.

Matcha glares at him and puts down another card.

"Does it count if I've actually eaten glass?" FWOOSH asks, a hand in the air.

Eyes turn to FWOOSH, and a beat of silence passes.

"...Were you forced or was it of your own volition?"

"I did it for fun. I enjoy the tingly sensation and the exotic taste."

"That's called blood, FWOOSH. Put a card down."

--

After this, Euclid is in the lead with 15 cards, and FWOOSH has 1 card left. Democritus has 7, and Matcha has 4.

The game is Common Sense. Clearly we know who is winning.

But, considering Euclid's not doing anything to get rid of these three nincompoops and has lived with them for four years -- do we really?
