Helveca, the Illuminated

"There are some who remember the Old Master, and they tend to do so fondly. Most now only know the glittering bastion of knowledge that is Helveca. Her heavy tomes can deliver more than just wrote learning, as any bruised ill-behaved young dragon can tell you." - Tephra, the Scholar Gleaming Manuscripts Infested Light Helveca previously served a clan in the scarred wasteland as a teacher. Her own history beyond that is the one history she does not comment on, though she is studied in many others, having traveled the world over before coming to settle in the Scarred Wasteland. It is unknown precisely why she came to settle in the lands of the Plaguebringer. However, she did come to Minstri's clan just as the two flights of Light and Plague were becoming embroiled in a historic battle for dominance. Her successor led the Exalted from the clan himself during that event, and the Clan was in need of a new teacher. Tephra served in the interim, but he has a soft disposition and is not terribly skilled in thorough explanation and discipline while outside his Library. But Helveca claimed the Queen's favor during the conflict and secured the position shortly after it died down. The stern nocturne had become fond of her new home. All that is really known about Helveca's past is that she harbors some strange dislike, bordering on a cold hatred for most dragons of Light. What dark task was done on behalf of the Blood Queen is known only by Helveca and the Queen Herself. Relationships Though usually stern, and rather aloof, Helveca's disposition was warm towards Bard, whose compositions never fail to please her. With the departure of Altin, with whom she had maintained a formal courtship, she immediately went to Bard. It is suspected the two were close long before then. |

Sadly, her time with Bard was not sustainable, and she returned to more formal courtship and mate selection after a short while, with Ciro, who was then the Clan's Master of Ceremonies. It seemed a more likely and traditional selection for her. When he departed the clan, she took to Michaelis. It seems the Bard was unable to maintain her favor for long, and while she remains fond of him, they are no longer so close. Perhaps the bard's wilder ways, while enticing, could never have truly been for her. Helveca has always disliked Susan deeply, and because of this, she had very little favor from the King. Sovri refused not involve her in any of his scholarly pursuits, as he did most other learned dragons within the Clan of Singing Blood. Departure This lack of favor from the King eventually wore away her good standing, and she departed the clan following an argument with him over his daughter Annabel, who was among her least favorite pupils. The argument was near to ending in violence, though Sovri managed some restraint for Anna's benefit. Helveca's lack of respect and poor showing towards Sovri also cost her the Queen's favor, and the Mirror Matriarch was not as known for restraint. It was in Helveca's best interest to leave the clan quickly. New Chapter Helveca has now started a new chapter in her own life, the history stretching out behind her becoming longer and ever more twisted, like that of the world she now explores. Where has the gone, and what will she find? |
