The only water in the forest is the river.
River’s origins are unclear. She simply swept into the Lair one day and made herself at home. She claims to know the Doctor - and is familiar with his unique condition - though the majority of the incarnations have no memory of her. Even when he assumes a Tundra form, he is almost always unfamiliar with her scent, which is more than a little disconcerting to other members of the Clan. Only two versions of the Doctor show signs of knowing her: one recognises her scent, though his Tundra memory makes him incapable of remembering why; the other has yet appeared infrequently, and so far has been unwilling to reveal details of his past with her. River’s reaction, when asked even by the Doctor himself, is consistent: a small smile and the word, “Spoilers.” In spite of her enigmatic behaviour towards him, River gets on well with all versions of the Doctor. She tailors her behaviour according to his changing personality, but this does not stop her from flirting outrageously with him at the slightest provocation. She is also very close to the Tardis, who can be rather selective about the company she keeps. Like all Ice dragons, River is drawn to artefacts and is deeply interested in archaeology. More often than not, she is engaged in wild adventures ‘liberating’ items from other dragons for her own catalogue … However, unlike many of her Flight, she is far from cold; although she relinquishes few details about herself, she is a good friend to many in the Clan and is known for her friendly and engaging manner.
