Hope Dragon

The clan discovers an Ancient Sanctum during the Bounty of the Elements. They explore, and find three sleeping "siblings" - Destiny, Tauri and Atlantis - and are invited to stay.

Oculus of the Eleven

An ancient magical apparatus built to monitor the ley energies flowing throughout Dragonhome. The Highland Sanctum provides invaluable analysis on the strength of latent earth magic and relays it directly to the Oculus of the Eleven, where it is monitored and researched by skilled magisters and scholars.

For years Einmyrir petitioned his father to relocate the Lundlaevungar Territory, or at least the Spire, into the heart of the Focal Point. However, Loki refused to test his luck and move the Spire again, and the rest of the Clan was reluctant to reside any closer to the intense energies radiating from the Observatory. After the Bounty of the Elements caused such upheaval to the Starfall Isles and the saturation of elemental magic began to affect dragons’ eyes, their fear only grew.

Undeterred, Einmyrir continued his pilgrimages to the home of the Arcanist, forging new paths through the altered land with the help of those he influenced towards exaltation. On one such journey, he discovered the Ancient Sanctum.

The structure is as old as dragonkind itself: a cluster of delicate spires protected by a magical force-field. It lay hidden for centuries on the sea bed, but was lifted once more during the Bounty of the Elements. Upon further exploration, it proved to be the home of three 'sisters' who had slept away the intervening ages. Despite what could have been seen as the invation of their home, they welcomed the Lundlaevungar and invited those who wished to conduct further research or develop a better understanding of their own powers to stay. The Ancient Sanctum has since become an important exclave for the Lundlaevungar.

Much to Einmyrir's displeasure, the sisters remain ambivalent towards the concept of exaltation. Though they play host to his novitiates and scholars, they refuse to allow the Ancient Sanctum to become a training ground for those who intend to grow their strength only to serve the Arcanist.

Observatory Outpost

For years Einmyrir petitioned his father to relocate the Lundlaevungar Territory, or at least the Spire, into the heart of the Focal Point. However, Loki refused to test his luck and move the Spire again, and the rest of the Clan was reluctant to reside any closer to the intense energies radiating from the Observatory. After the Bounty of the Elements caused such upheaval to the Starfall Isles and the saturation of elemental magic began to affect dragons’ eyes, their fear only grew.

Shortly after the initial shockwaves of the Bounty had passed, Einmyrir made one of his habitual pilgrimages to the Observatory to commune with the Arcanist outside its hallowed doors. On his way back he discovered a gateway, freshly revealed by the tectonic shifts that had rocked the Focal Point. His poor eyesight meant that he was unable to explore beyond the very entrance, but even from his glimpses he knew he had discovered something special – not some cave in the rock, but a dragon-made structure that had been swallowed by time and crystal growth.

When they heard of his discovery, the Althing Council ordered a reconnaissance team to explore beyond the gateway. They discovered the tiers, spires and hallways of a Sanctum long forgotten and lost, and woke three dragons from their centuries-long enchanted slumber within. These guardians of the Ancient Sanctum invited the Lundlaevungar explorers to stay and learn from their technology and magic.

So the Ancient Sanctum became the Lundlaevungar’s outpost. The residents watch activities at the Observatory and among the exalted and keep the Lundlaevungar informed, while at the same time discovering more about the Sanctum itself and the dragons who slept there for untold ages.

The Ancient Sanctum

The Ancient Sanctum was discovered after the turbulent proliferation of Arcane’s crystal formations during the Bounty of the Elements. Though the Crystalspine Reaches was the most affected, the Focal Point also felt the surges of power and, along the paths of ley lines where the magical energies run the strongest, sections of the island were sent into disarray as the land grew and shifted in violent spurts. These tectonic shockwaves revealed the gateway to an Ancient Sanctum.

It had long since been abandoned. In time, layer after layer of crystal had grown over its once-elegant spires and closed off its hallways, and for years it lay utterly forgotten. Only a sheath of Arcane magic, maintained by Lightning technology, saved the dragon-made structures beneath from complete destruction.

Einmyrir found the freshly revealed entrance during one of his pilgrimages to commune with the Arcanist and deliver new scholars to the Observatory. His poor eyesight meant that he was unable to explore beyond the very entrance, but even from his glimpses he knew he had discovered something special – not some cave in the rock, but a construction that had been swallowed by time. Upon his return, the Althing Council sent a small group of dragons to further explore the new phenomenon. When they stepped inside, the carved walls responded to their presence – their Breath – and glowed with a subtle light and energy that encouraged them onwards. Inside, there were tools and lenses from an age long-past and runes written in a form of Draconic so old it had not been spoken in thousands of years.

There were also three dragons, who woke from an enchanted slumber to greet them.

Destiny, Terra and Atlantis call themselves ‘Ancients’ and claim to have slept almost since the dawn of dragonkind. They explained to the Lundlaevungar that their Sanctum stands at a crossing-point of two powerful Arcane ley lines and was originally built, alongside several others in the Starfall Isles, as a prototype for the still-operational elemental Sanctums that are now dotted at strategic points across Sornieth. Loki was fascinated by the research that had been conducted already, and excited at the possibility of discovering more ways to protect his family and friends from unpredictable surges of magical energy.

Recognising his good intentions, the guardians of the Sanctum opened their doors and became part of the Lundlaevungar.
