Jung
~ The Patient Knight ~
Jung was an early collaborator of the Stacked Deck clan, and a prominent member of its old blood. His origins were humble. As with many of the clan's early members, Jung, a Guardian fledgeling, was intercepted en route to another clan as a young ward by San, who bribed and outbid his guide and recruited him into his own growing family. Older than most exchanged wards but clearly not travelling of his own behest, San correctly identified Jung as a drake of small ambitions, and won his loyalty accordingly, naming the Stacked Deck as a modest clade of individuals driven by survival and the urge for belonging wherein he could be accepted without question or rite of way, which at the time was a summary with some accuracy.
Small ambitions, however, proved themselves secondary to Jung's patience, diligence and genuine altruism. Since his earliest days Jung had maintained that he needed no quest to find something to spend his life defending, but that he had made the future of all dragonkind his charge, and dedicate himself to that end. An unusual choice, but one that he held dear and true as the population of the Stacked Deck increased and grew stable, and his own position as a labourer inched further and further into that of an elder, driven by sheer experience of years. It was with time that he taught himself to take on a military duty within the clan, imparting strength and wisdom into residents and passing wanderers alike.
Jung's most memorable step into modest prominence came with his decision to return to his birthplace in the Zephyr Steppes and compound his life's skills with formalised experience as a leader, teacher and warrior- A knight, some elected to call it. His departure was long, but the determination Jung had accumulated through his life brought him into favour with, it is said, even the high priesthood of the Cloudsong. When he returned on the winds as a magnificent, divinely ordained knight and Skydancer, the Stacked Deck's surprise lasted only momentarily- Jung's change had occurred with them, over long years of companionship, and now his body only matched his heart.
Cassava Switchblade still sees regular duty with his father Jung, as both remain prominent in the Stacked Deck's military. Cassava's withdrawal from the social scene has been the only source of deep upset in Jung's genial life, and though he continues to entreat others to try and interact with the inquisitive, energetic dragon behind the mask of service, he is fighting a losing battle over an identity Cassava has already settled in to.
