Biography
Tierra
"Mother of the Wild Path" Patient | Soothing | Protective | Warm Guardian of the Clan's Nesting Grounds Adoptive Mother of Orphan Hatchlings With the sun in full strength over the barren Shattered Plains, the glare is bright, and the air is warm. Earth dragons relish this kind of weather, often finding themselves stretched on boulders enjoying the sunshine. While the landscape is seemingly lifeless, little does one know that this is the place where new life is born. The Clan of the Wild Path's nesting grounds are found among the Shattered Plains - a huge expanse of barren stone and cracked earth. Some are found under the shade of large boulders, some are dug underground, and some are fully exposed to the elements. It is the parents' choice on where to lay their kin, but the Clan's joined mentality is their hatchlings should see the wide open sky upon their hatching. What a better place than the Shattered Plains? Still, in such a risky location, the eggs are fully exposed to danger. Weather is no issue - Earth eggs can handle almost anything - but to thieves and other dragons, they are money waiting to be plundered. Wildlife will destroy and eat them. Who will guard the eggs? It may seem obvious that the parents would. But for some nests, the parents are not around. Some nests the parents never return to. In these cases, there is a wildclaw who patrols the nesting grounds, ferociously attacking any intruder, and helping to raise the hatchlings left behind. Tierra, the respected "Mother of the Wild Path", is such a dragon. Tierra, a single Wildclaw with scales that blend in perfectly with earthy soil, is a warm and nurturing member of the Clan who has dedicated her life to watching the children of her clanmates. More often than not, the parents do return for their children, overwhelmed with gratitude for her efforts. For those who do not return, however, she helps raise the hatchlings into strong, humble servants for the Earthshaker. Despite her ferocious appearance and her natural hunting abilities as a Wildclaw, she has left behind any part of her that is lethal and has embraced a soothing and patient demeanor. Some of the Clan's fellow Wildclaws tend to sneer at her disposition, but for the most part, she is well respected among the Clan for her efforts. Of course, should an intruder or wrong-doer ever cross her nests, the primal nature in her genetic memory will flare up, and woe to those who ever cross between her and her children. Even the great Berylwarden, leader of the Clan, has recognized her abilities and officially entrusted her with the orphans and new hatchlings the Clan acquires. Neighboring clans will often come to her and request they watch their children while they are away. It's a hefty workload, and Tierra is often tired after a long day of nest tending. Fortunately, she does have help from other clanmates. Aedus, the fiery storyteller, often visits her to ensure she's eating well, builds her hearth when needed, and entertains the hatchlings with his vibrant myths and tales, letting her get some sleep. And, on occasion, Crackle, the strange Skydancer with the harpy, will come and take over her shift. Hatchlings love that harpy, too. She muses it's good for them to see other species besides dragons, though...he is a little, well, strange. At the end of a long day, when the moon rises and the hearth begins to die down, there is nothing more warming to her than being surrounded by the children of others. They are innocent and loving, and look up to her in every way. Even when she feels her own body may break, they are there to catch her in the best way they can. It is heartbreaking to her, that she has no children of her own. Her happy demeanor aside, it is a sadness she hides deep within her. Her love for others' hatchlings helps her mask that sadness, though it does toil away at her inside. |

The Clan's ideals are often so loose that its denizens find themselves so far and distant, so wrapped up in their studies and travels that they forget their children in their wake. How does that even happen? Well, that's why I'm here. I watch these nests for them. Sometimes the parents come back. And sometimes...they do not. Where will these children go? I will carry their parents' burden and raise them into strong earth dragons. I feel like it's my calling. And, well, sometimes...I feel hatchlings are the most comforting. They do not yet know deceit." Trophy Dragon! 1st triple soil Wildclaw |
