B I O G R A P H Y

Skyloft has its fair share of dragons with mysterious pasts, and Beryl is no exception. She comes from the Scarred Wasteland, like Asclepius, but, unlike him, doesn’t practice necromancy. She hails from a much tamer portion of the region, but it still turned her vicious and apathetic. Beryl had taken up a blade more than once, but had since left the more dangerous part of her past behind. But deciding whether that is a good thing or not is still a question plaguing her thoughts.

She was certain that without a certain morning-orange coatl, Beryl would not be here today. She knew for a fact that at the very least, she wouldn’t be running her own tavern with her in a money-shark’s traveling clan. Sunriser was the only one who could convince her to make non-violent decisions. Sunriser was the one who thought a tavern would be a great idea. She thought Beryl was a great fit for bartender. She certainly had that “tell me of your troubles” aura about her, as Ziggy often said.

Beryl didn’t like to depend on other dragons. She was very good at sustaining herself--she was hatched in the Wyrmwound, after all. She was more than capable of running off in the middle of the night, never to be seen again, leaving behind all of her belongings. But . . . as much as she hated to admit it, she needed Sunriser, and she really enjoyed running the Collapsible Tavern, as boring as it can sometimes be. Maybe joining Skyloft was a good thing after all.

____Pouring drinks only occupied Beryl’s nighttime hours. She was often bored out of her skull when the tavern was closed. She needed something to do in the middle of the day, or else she would go crazy and try to slaughter everyone in Skyloft. Aside from occasionally sparring with Brooklian--since he was gone so much--Beryl had nothing to do. She needed to occupy her claws, something that takes as much time as a slowly spreading contagion.

She took to picking through the pile of bones behind the alchemy expansion of the laboratory. She found large ones and small ones and took them back to Sunriser, an idea slowly forming in her mind. Thank Plaguebringer for Sunriser, always giving Beryl that little boost: she could make jewelry with the bones. After an audience with Milan, a new tent was soon added to Skyloft’s breezeway, right next to the tavern.

____Beryl didn’t consider apparel to be for show. She like what was practical and comfortable, while still allowing lots of movement. Sunriser often nudged her towards August’s apparel shop, much to Beryl’s protest. She often walked on the other side of the breezeway to avoid running into either Todd or August. She hated fashion.

Sunriser had once forced her to go inside. Inside was just about as garrish as Beryl thought the outside looked. Pink and purple dresses adorned skydancer mannequins, weird purple leaves decorated coatl mannequins, and metal gold and white vests rested on fae mannequins. August skipped over to his two new customers and greeted them by draping capes over the two dragons. Beryl slipped out when the two weren’t looking and sulked behind the alchemy lab for the rest of the day. Sunriser stopped pushing Beryl about apparel after that.
