As I sank under waves of molten glass,
In my mind’s eye I saw an eon pass,
The slow unfurling of flowers old,
The branching path as coral grows.

As deeper still my body dove,
I saw history swift unfold,
The stately ships of elder kings,
Pirates and sailors and messenger’s wings.

As I reached the bottom, I upwards gazed,
And prepared there to slumber away the days.
