Orion
Nanny | Elder
It's a big responsibility, fairy god-mothering. Knowing when to stop, I mean.

Role

As the clan's shared nanny, Orion has fed, bathed and nagged more than his fair share of mutinous hatchlings. Children of clan members, orphaned eggs and young dragons that have chosen this clan as their home have all been at least partially raised by the long-suffering Skydancer. He can't not take responsibility for them, either - his sense of duty has made him feel responsible for every broken vase and every offended ambassador. Orion has been an enormous help to the clan, and young, inexperienced or accidental parents will often ask him for advice or straight-out give him their hatchlings to raise.

Personality

Despite his rather demonic appearance, Orion has always been the forgiving, indulgent type. Hatchlings instantly love him, if only because of his striking aesthetic, and despite half-hearted protests he always succumbs to their cuddles in his warm, thick fur. He firmly believes that no hatchling is better than another, and treats all dragons the same, even his own progeny. Orion tends to treat any hatchlings he's raised as children, even after they've grown up, moved out and had children of their own. It's not uncommon for him to reminisce with one of Emilio and Sigrun's fully grown Imperial hatchlings and still be able to make them flounder in embarrassment at their childhood antics.

Background

Orion is actually one of the clan elders, though his real age is a closely guarded secret. He and Rajni arrived when the Manor was still half buried in rubble and covered in centuries of dust, and they were present for just about every major even in clan history. Due to this, the others always assume he knows the story of the clan back to front, but they are vastly overestimating Orion's memory of and interest in clan affairs. Orion lives in the present, and all he really cares about are his delightful mate and the little ones.

Relationships

Orion and Rajni are a very established couple, and have been since the clan was founded. Out of the entire Manor, their relationship is the most well-known and supported, and most of the clan treats them as one entity joined at the hip. Orion is famous for his diligence in looking after hatchlings, and many younger clan members will fondly reminisce about their long-suffering nanny. He is good friends with Sigrun and Em, and often acts as peacemaker between the older clan members. Orion also gets along well with Kunlun, and the two Fire dragons love to swap hatchling and familiar horror stories and outdo each other with anecdotes of the (loveable) delinquents.
