backstory
- used to live in the same flight ambiguous clan luna and chanda were in. didn't actually interact with luna during her time there
- his mom became estranged from her husband after ada was born. she learned he was taking advantage of her influential stature
- sergio and lucille bullied him before his family left the clan, often making tasteless jabs at him
- chanda stepped in and stopped the two from hurting him
- grateful of the tiny tundra, he scampers off to his mom and asks her to let their family go with them. the two families move out
- ken's mom meets crystal's mom and the two fall in love. the two get married shortly after

personality
- Diligence runs in the Vivas family, and Ken is no exception. However, his work goes unnoticed many times, discouraging him. He's very competitive even when he doesn't mean to be. He strives to be the best, but being overshadowed by his little sister doesn't help.
- tries to act mature and make good first impressions on people he's never met. however, he acts like a child at times and easily gets jealous, especially of his sister.
- he tries to make himself known and despises being ignored. craves attention and validation
- often used as a scapegoat and ends up getting the short end of the stick on most occasions
- can act arrogant and sometimes disregards other people's feelings
- many times he acts apathetic and would rather stay away from conflict. reasoning for this is that, if something will have no effect on him, he shouldn't interfere.

physique
- has low pain tolerance (will writhe on the floor if he gets a paper cut)
- wears glasses; cannot see without them
- has no magic to call his own. doesnt know if he has an innate talent either

- super close with chanda. like. really close
- ada is his sister and crystal is their stepsister (their moms married)
- used to avoid ada when they were younger. their relationship has gradually improved
- luna sometimes hangs out with him, talking trash about despit and the dragons there. they're Depression Buddies™
- one time, when he was alone with luna, he asked her how she was able to escape despit. she ended up telling him her life story and was so casual about it (at the time she thought how she was treated by milla and the others was normal). he was so horrified, before running off to tell nike, crystal, and chanda about why she ran, he told her that that's messed up.
- didn't want his little sister to learn about his depression. too bad that, even as a hatchling, she has a bc detector
- ken used to be best friends with sergio and lucille, but they fell out

- has depression, feels like he's faking it. will hurt himself in some way to convince himself that he is indeed a Depressed Dip™
