Biography
PERSEUS
Tinkerer, part-time Metalworker
Clever, unruly, and quick-tempered, Perseus was a bundle of trouble the second he broke out of his egg. He was very intelligent, but he was restless, and couldn't sit still. He found his place in the clan doing multiple things to keep his mind active; tinkering and inventing things and sometimes helping Andromeda at her Forge. He loved being beside her and often made her irritable by pacing around her and bumping her because he was large and a bit clumsy.

Perseus has been lost since he was a hatchling. Born into a light clan, he was raised around parchment and scrolls and terribly boring lectures about things that didn't hold his interest. He was a squirmy child, always moving some part of him, even when sitting down. The scholars were always impatient with him, thinking that he was dull-minded. They sent him away, no longer willing to teach.
Angry, Perseus sought to get revenge for being discarded like he was. It was not that he was not Intelligent, he was just not interested in the material the older dragons were teaching. He decided the other fledglings probably felt similarly, but were not as restless as he.
And with that thought, he lured his learning mates away with the promise of an entertaining lecture. They came willingly, one by one, until the elder dragons had no students left.
Perseus was allowed back in, but he decided it was time for him to leave instead. He had outwitted the most knowledgeable of their clan and he felt as if he could do something more somewhere else.
With the uncertain blessings from the elders, he left on his journey to find his purpose. He bade the Lightweaver farewell almost jokingly, as he did not believe that the dieties heard prayers-or answered them, for that matter.
He wandered for a while, not really knowing where he wanted to go. He hadn't ever been outside of the Sunbeam Ruins, so all he had was his memory of the maps he had to learn back in his early days as a hatchling. He went through the Shifting Expanse, disliking how the lightening dragons commanded things to rotate around them instead of allowing the land and creatures to move as nature meant for them to move.
He traveled into The Sea Of a Thousand Currents and promptly turned back around, as he felt unnerved that every dragon seemed to have a fatal prophesy to tell him about. And that's when he stumbled into the Ashfall Waste.
He didn't really like that he sunk into the ground as he walked, but this place seemed far calmer than the other places he'd been to. Though it was pock-marked with lava pits and the earth was covered in ash, it was quiet. Salamanders and bugs skittered about and he snapped at the amphibians, taking what food he could, as he didn't know when he'd come across it next. There was a Volcano to the south; he'd heard of it, the Great Furnace. He decided it was a good place to seek answers to his questions, if not just a good place to find some other dragons.
He traveled towards it, flying when he could, walking when he could not. Perseus didn't much like all the molten rock all over the place and the sweltering heat, but something charged the air and made is scales prickle with excitement. He started to climb the Volcano when the ground rumbled and he braced himself, hissing when he stepped wrong and burned himself on some lava. The earth groaned and shook again, and he dug his claws into the ash, but fell sideways anyway, narrowly missing a small trickle of lava beside him. He got back up when the earthquake stopped and looked up to see if the volcano was causing this.
What he saw caught his breath. A giant dragon, the Flamecaller, was staring down at him from the summit. She opened her jaws and let out a fiery breath towards him, disbelief and horror filling him as the huge ball of fire reached him from such a distance. He braced himself, but the fire didn't seem to be burning him. It surrounded him and then vanished as soon as it was done. He found he was sleek and shinier than he was before, his scales polished to a fine sheen. He looked up to thank the diety for what she had done, but she was already gone. He sent a prayer to her instead.
He wasn't sure what to do next, now that he had been given such a gift. Clearly the Flamecaller wanted him for something, but for what, he didn't know. That is, until he saw her. He saw a coatl coming down the volcano, her scales gleaming in the sun as she moved. It was a different kind of shine than his, he was enamored with her. When she finally reached him, they went down the volcano together, and when she asked for him to be her mate, he accepted gladly, finally knowing his purpose.

Andromeda had kicked him out of the workshop for weeks, not coming out often, and when she did she was irate and volatile. He worried for her, but didn't interfere, as he knew that it was for him that she was working so hard. They reached a sort of compromise, where he'd bring her food as she worked, as long as he was quiet and didn't touch anything. He was getting antsy as this long period of not being able to be with her was stretching longer, but she finally came out, exhausted, but finished with her labors.
Andromeda passed out not too long after she was done, but in her dainty claws was a scroll. Perseus, the curious and impatient creature that he was, could not wait to see what it was until she woke, so he investigated the scroll carefully, not even removing it from his mate's claws at first. He eventually got so impatient that he took the scroll from her and unrolled it, only to find that Andromeda had forged some sort of magic in it and his scales started to itch.
He scratched himself, but it didn't stop the infuriating itch. His whole body felt like it was growing hot, as if he was dumped into Andromeda's forge, and he panicked a little. Perseus rolled around in the dirt in an effort to cool his burning, itching hide, but to no avail. He wailed in aggravation and closed his eyes to bear it until either it was over or until Andromeda woke to fix it.
It didn't take all that long for the burning and itching to subside and Perseus slowly sat up, almost afraid to move. His body felt slightly heavier, but there was no more pain. He glanced down at himself and gasped, dazzled. She had created a coat of shiny scales like hers just for him.
In a rush of affection, he bounded over to Andromeda's sleek form to embrace her, nuzzling and nosing at her in gratitude. She growled at him and swatted him with her wings, but she was too tired to really do much to push him off.
He was so overwhelmed that she spent so much of her time and energy just for him that he spent the next few weeks doting on her (much to her irritation) and doing all he could to somehow repay her for making him as beautiful as she was.
