About Me

I'm Rowan but feel free to call me my username, dad, whatever. I use they/them pronouns. First things first I am queer and some terms that apply to my gender are genderqueer, nonbinary, and trans. While I use gender-neutral terms I'm ok when someone says something like 'she' or 'sir' in reference to me because it can be a difficult adjustment. My rule of them when it comes to using the right pronouns for me is that as long as I know you're trying I'm not going to be upset if you slip up. It's also somewhat validating when strangers can't tell what gender I am. When it comes to attraction to others some things that fit are again queer, but also diamoric, sapphic, and demi. Bi is on real thin ice. I like women, and other nonbinary individuals, and rarely men.

Labels haven't exactly been my friend and that's part of why queer resonates so strongly with me. I was very open with my sexuality as I came to terms with it and that lead to a lot of people telling me what they thought was right for me and being very adamant about it. Queer is the only term that hasn't been thrown at me with venom and fortunately it's actually the best personal descriptor I've found. You'll likely never see me say LGBT+ outside of Intergaylactic if even then because I don't like that despite the movement being founded by trans women of colour those are still the most repressed groups within the community. To the point I've seen widespread attempts to 'drop the T'. When I started to think I might not be cis I was outed by people who thought that because everyone was ok with me being "gay/lesbian" that they'd automatically also be ok with me being nonbinary. They weren't. As a result I've never like officially came out on my own as anything (partly cause I don't think anyone should have to). I just kinda live my life and if someone asks or makes an assumption I tell them. It's a lot of me casually saying stuff like 'my partner' and 'hun I'm not even a girl' and laughing when they do double takes because they see me say 'Hi I'm Rowan Queer(rather than my actual last name at first)' and 'they' when talking about myself but the pieces never click at first.

Some things I'm interested in are queer rights, witchcraft, political activism (anchrocommunist), science, feminism, and graphic design such as web coding and digital art (mostly webcomics I'm real big on hiveworks and webtoons), any kind of quiz esp. personality ones, buttons/graphic t-shirts as pieces of flair as conversation starters, and cats. I'm also a maintenance tech by trade so if you need home repair advice hmu.
