Kieran
Herbologist

Origins - After the twins, Nadya wasn't sure he could truly be a successful father, but Luciela wanted them, and he can't say no to her. Three more eggs, three more hatchlings. All three little ones grew up with a whole clan of dragons carefully watching over them, which was comical for the other clans of the Council, especially when Magnolia brought the trio along with her to a meeting.

All things must come to an end, however, as the little ones soon made clear that they were ready to move on to other clans. Luciela was a bit reluctant to let them go, but they went anyway. It's time for their new lives to begin.

A new beginning - “Oh, that’s great. Now a blind one. Exactly what we needed.”
These words, spoken with an acid mocking undertone, were still ringing in his ears. He had buried his tear-stained face in the warm comforting fur of his familiar Brambles. He knew it wouldn’t be easy to start a new life in a new Clan. Especially not after a devastating battle against an enemy Beastclan, which had cost that Clan many lives. Of course, they would prefer an experienced and battle-hardened warrior over a blind afflicted coatl. But still, these words hurt. Nobody back at home had known about the severe fighting that had broken out here. His parents would have never sent him to The Forgotten Sanctuary otherwise. He had grown up loved and sheltered and his mother had been very reluctant to let him go. His blindness had made her even more anxious. But he had insisted. With the help of his loyal familiar and his heightened sense of smell and hearing, he could find his way around on his own despite his lack of sight. Now he had gotten his wish, arrived at this exciting new place he had dreamt of for so long, but he desperately longed for home. The thought of the familiar sounds and smells brought tears to his eyes. Here, the tang of blood and soft moans of the wounded lingered over everything else. It was not at all how he had imagined his new home.

A soft, tapping sound disturbed his thoughts. He flinched, cutting his face at the sharp crystals protruding through Brambles’ fur. Slightly embarrassed, he got up to his feet, hastily wiping the tears from his eyes. A raspy voice spoke from the entrance of the enormous hollow tree that was his new home. “There, there, little one. Nothing is as desperate as it first seems.” He recognized the voice, it was Nanna, the ancient Snapper who had lead him here. She shoved a mug of steaming hot tea into his claws. “We didn’t expect you so soon. It’s a mess here. The whole Clan is agitated. So many loses, so many wounded. And some of the Serthis escaped. Antafes is furious.” He sipped at the hot tea. “I’m sorry.” He replied after swallowing the hot liquid. It tasted fresh, lemon and mint. “We didn’t know you were under attack. I wouldn’t have come if I had known. I’m not much of a fighter I fear. And certainly, not what is needed here right now.” He couldn’t keep the bitterness out of his voice. “Nonsense. Don’t let Tyr’s harsh words affect you. He is in a dark place right now. His mother died during the fights. He is filled with grief and lashes out without thinking. He knows very well that we all play an important part in protecting and helping the Clan. Not only the fighters. And the Afflicted have done very well. On the battlefield as well as helping to prepare the fight and now they are caring for the wounded. And scouting the boundaries and keeping watch. They are a cornerstone of our Clan. You will find your place here, too. I’m sure of that.” She softly patted his arm. He sighed. “I will.” She laughed softly. “That’s the spirit. Now tell me, what are your interests and abilities? Right now, we need to put every able hand to work.” As he told her about his love for herbology, how he distinguished the herbs by smell and touch and his special interest in the healing properties of herbs, he felt his heart lighten. Maybe it wasn’t that bad here after all.

Personality - Kieran is a sensitive and gentle dragon. He is very empathic and senses the moods of others. But he is also easily upset and does not have a thick skin. He takes slights very badly.

Friends - Kieran’s best friend is his familiar Brambles. She is a service familiar and they both share a close bond. She guides him through difficult terrain and he calls her “his eyes”. He often seeks the company of Nanna, the kind old snapper and story teller. Among the Afflicted, Neacal is his closest friend and he also shares a close bond with the Clan’s Healer, Falyse.

Clan Role - Kieran is a skilled herbologist and gardener. He grows but also collects herbs with various healing qualities. The herbs are then used by him to create poultices, tinctures or tea. Especially the other Afflicted hold him in high regard because of his gentle nature and herbal remedies that ease their symptoms.

Symptoms - Kieran has inherited his father’s blindness. Apart from that, no other ailments have shown themselves yet.
