Purity, as her second stop on her quest to help others, found herself lost within the Scarred Wasteland, with no dragons or life in sight for miles. The gruesome scene before her made her stomach sick, and she began thinking of leaving this place altogether and instead move on to a better, nicer domain. That was, until, she met him.

Kuzos was troubled, as would be any dragon that had lived in the plague region for so long-death, decay and the inevitability of it all sunk deep into his mind, poisoning his thoughts and leaving him a heartless, uncaring guardian that roamed, breathed and killed simply because he could, and nothing else.

Purity saw the guardian sulking and hissing, and instead of shrinking away like others had, she saw past his dull, red eyes, and instead saw someone in need of her help and care. Thus, she took it upon herself to help him in any way she could, as was her goal. She followed Kuzos around, much to his dismay, asking him questions, chatting to him and generally being a kind-hearted dragon, until eventually, fed up with the tundra, Kuzos attacked her, and almost mauled her to death. Almost.

But something inside him stopped his talons-but what? He shook it off at first, but without him knowing, the kindness Purity had shown him had sunk deeper into his skin than what could be seen, and though he refused to accept it, the tundra knew of it, and kept nudging him towards her goal-happiness. The road was rough and long, but after weeks and months, Purity and Kuzos became very close, the fogged, red eyes now a brilliant glowing ruby, and the craving to kill long gone. And not far afterwards, Purity and Kuzos laid eggs-a nest of five.

But this pairing was not the fate either of them were destined for. At heart, Kuzos was still a Plague dragon, and the morals, instinct and ways of his ancestors still ran deep through his blood. The guardian began shifting back towards his former self, and this time, Purity could do nothing to stop his spiral into insanity. Willingly, she did the only thing she could: when the nest hatched, she attempted to take her hatchlings with her, far away from their blood-thirsty father.

Kuzos, however, did not return to what he was before-though he craved to kill, he had no desire to harm his mate, nor his newborn children. Rather, fearing for their lives, he secretly left his family behind, loosing himself deep within the wasteland, away from all other life in hopes of living the remainder of his life in peace.

Purity was abandoned with her hatchlings. Wanting to continue her quest, yet wanting her offspring to live a better life, she brought them with her to a nearby clan, hoping they would live a peaceful, happy life among others, and with a heart-wrenching goodbye, left to continue on her journey.
