FLINT, representative.
"Even a well lit place can hide salvation; a map to a one man maze that never sees the sun."

.. He'd been raised as a metalworker, just as many inhabiting the Blacksand Annex were. Flint always had a gift for spotting which pieces of ore would create the most reflective armor, the most clean-cutting blades- it was enough to bring him a bit of fame in the world, just enough to have the wealthiest of royalty to demand his hand in crafting their equipment. He never saw this as something negative; the rich were donating to those with less money, and his family received the funds his gifts allowed. Really, it was quite desirable...but is everything ever the way it seems?

No, it isn't. It didn't become known until after the fact, but those genuinely using his armor in the heat of battle were cut down left and right, for despite the warnings that it was purely decoration, those corrupted kings and queens felt that looking stunning on the battlefield was more important than ensuring their own safety and victory. No matter how he and his fellow smiths laid down the evidence that it was user error and not an inherent flaw, the knights and subjects hounded them, demanding compensation, demanding death for the ones who they insisted sabotaged their leaders' efforts. It seemed that there was absolutely nothing that they could possibly do to cease the endless fighting, and as a show of peace, Flint himself stepped into a heated battle between his brother and a vengeful Tundra, the claws piercing his scales so smoothly that it was like dipping a hand into a stilled lake.

And how the boy fell, crumpling to the obsidian-covered earth.

He lay bleeding from the wound as the distraught sibling called for help, called for a sage, called for anybody to help. As always, the gentle Skydancer was blind to the attempts to help, simply mumbling an inaudible farewell and slipping into unconsciousness. The last thing that he saw was the tears of his mother, reaching out for the magic seeping from his being. Nothing short of divine intervention would save the young metalworker from his unfortunate demise. Lo and behold, however, the Flamecaller's appreciation of the boy's proficiency in his craft. It was said that, while she herself was not there, a Sprite made herself known and began to etch runes into his cooled body, igniting them and zipping away immediately after. Nobody knows for sure if the story is true.

They do know, however, that the dragon rose, with newfound markings dotting his dull hide.

As he believed himself to be at fault for the whole situation, Flint quickly gathered his few belongings and said goodbyes to his loved ones, still in terrible shock from the ordeal. He then followed the warm currents to the west, navigating them with relative ease, considering his lack of knowledge on the weather patterns of the rest of Sornieth. Now, he resides in the Talisian Centre, where he creates the steel that protects the land taken up by the scientific work from those with the intent to destroy it. He hasn't forgotten his roots, and consistently shows faith to his patron rather than that of the doctors', but he is a valuable asset to the dragons in the realm of science.

Hopefully, he'll stay that way.
