Subject: Concerning behavior
It's been nearly three years since K-3019 was unthawed. No one at the institute expected her to reanimate when she was thawed from the ice and yet she did within minutes, defying all known laws of dragon physiology. She's been quite the marvel since then and the subject of her fair share of tests, both invasive and not.
Many of us assumed she would begin to grow into an adult once she'd been freed, however in the three years we have had her she hasn't changed a bit. There have been a number of theories proposed as to why that might be: damage to her DNA, a genetic mutation, or maybe even a curse. However, closer examination of her genetic make-up proved - worrisome, and confounding.
K-3019 has a genetic structure unlike anything I've ever witnessed before. Where there should be DNA there's... something I am unsure of how to classify. It is a nucleic acid as far as I can tell, but it's neither a ribose nor deoxyribose. Its shape confuses me as nothing about it seems probable, let alone capable of sustaining life. The genetic material that makes Kida up should be prone to mutations, disease, or at the very least attack from less stable molecules, but she's remarkably healthy. Unnaturally so, in fact.
But, that's not why I'm writing this. K-3019 has become more aggressive and unstable. Some at the institute have postulated that she could finally be degrading, her age catching up with her, while others were concerned she may have had a disease in her previous life that has finally awakened. I believe neither of these things, however my true beliefs would seem outlandish next to those of the scientists before me.
K-3019 was found outside of Sornieth in a corner of the world that had been untouched for many a generation. The ice that she was pulled from was dated to be around 2.46 million years old. However, what's strange is that Imperials have only been traced back 1.78 million years. Of course, my colleagues shrugged this off stating we just hadn't found a specimen this old yet, but I don't think Kida is what she appears to be.
Pushing her unclear heritage and strange genetic structure aside, there's just something in K-3019's eyes that I don't trust. They watch me a little too closely when I'm alone in the lab at night, and I swear they change color. More concerning is the fact that she's shown herself to have strange regenerative properties. Just last week she went into a rage and threw herself at the reinforced glass that makes up her enclosure until she was able to free herself. There was blood everywhere, but by the time the specialists captured her and brought her to a new enclosure she didn't have a single scratch on her body. Not even a scar. Have you ever seen or heard of an imperial hatchling with that much strength? None of our projects or specimens have ever been strong enough to break out of their enclosures, let alone an infant.
I'm not sure what K-3019 is, but she's not dragonkind. I don't think she was frozen in a storm, I think she was trapped there for all eternity by something else. Something that was afraid. I'm writing this down in the hopes that someone else might see my side. That you might understand my concern with continuing research on her. K-3019 is not to be trusted; I fear she may be a -
