» CLAN NEVERSPINE «
Abiding Boneyard | Lawful Good | Safe Haven
Neverspine is built underground, among the giant skeletal remains of a long-extinct beast. The entrance is located through the skull, maw held wide open on supports, and tattered banners fluttering from the horns.
All are welcome here to rest, free of charge. It's an unusually hospitable clan founded from two siblings who never grew up on plague culture. |
» Origins «
It all started with Of The Fallen Skies and West Winds. Together, they hatched alone to a cold and empty hole in the ground. It was an incredible stroke of luck that the two hatchlings managed to survive, as they were safe deep underground, away from the diseases and savages up above. They managed to scrounge around and live on old rations until they were old enough to gather fresh food. It was West Winds who handled most of the hunting and gathering, as Of The Fallen Skies grew up small and frail from lack of fresh food, unlike West Winds, who at least could get a hold of some live bugs. But, this doesn't mean that Of The Fallen Skies did not make himself useful. Instead, he took to other neighbouring clans, and worked on his interpersonal skills. The youngsters formed their own language that only they spoke, as they grew up with no connections to the outside world, and no teachers. They took to calling this language Pipspeak. Of The Fallen Skies learned common, and brought it back to his sibling. He brought other skills that he learned too, and also began to trade for things the two couldn't get on their own, such as advanced tools and crafted goods. Reaching adulthood, they began to explore what had been their home for their whole lives. It was a ruined clan, deep underground that expanded for seemingly miles in all directions. They should have been raised here. They should have had a family. What happened? Why were they spared? Others who came to the lair looking for shelter were welcomed and treated as guests. Some moved on, others decided to stay, and soon the lair began to fill with life again. Once it was big enough, the dragons nominated Of The Fallen Skies and West Winds as the rightful owners of the land, and they became the clan leaders, despite knowing very little about politics. It was for this reason that they formed the council out of certain inhabitants who they felt could help them manage a clan. |
» Present Day «
The council was carefully picked to try and represent as many views as possible, while also still having their own important and useful skills. Orious, the keeper of law, Glade the statistics expert, Auloniades the accountant, Yuva and Ryne the interpersonal experts, Volcatros the historian and archmage, Thanatas and Kaitaka the survivalists. And later, Sees-All and Ash, the masters of science and alchemy respectively. The clan continued to grow, and tried to make its mark on the world; opening trade routes, and starting peace talks with other clans. Neverspine has reached out to Beastclan in attempts to unite Beastclan and dragon, with mixed results. One clan, known as the Inevitable, a clan of raptorik, originally met with hostility but eventually warmed to an unstable armistice as long as there are no more trespassers and no more attempts to communicate. Another, the Poison Pirates, had been a young clan of impressionable serthis, who formed an alliance with Neverspine and prevented assimilation with their parent clan. A subclan has recently formed and split off from Neverspine, travelling deeper into the ruins to settle in the dusty darks. They call themselves the Coven of the Lost. |

» Conflicts and Enemies « |
Recently, one neighbouring clan has been an increasing problem for Neverspine. Located deeper in the Scarred Wastelands, in the Rotrock Rim, sits a huge tree made out of corpses and bones, and sealed together with pulsing, magically-infused fleshsoil. Here resides the Rabid Renegades, a clan of plague faes only, as any other breed or element is considered "unpure" in their twisted eyes and slaughtered without mercy. Of The Fallen Skies, fool that he is sometimes, attempted peace negotiations regardless, trying to find that shred of mercy, the smallest slither of soul within the tyrannical leader. Now, Neverspine is a target. Those living at Neverspine know to never leave the safety of the tunnels at night, as the risk of Rabid Renegades prowling around to pick off the lonely and stupid is high. The problem has grown so bad that even innocent plague faes are treated with caution, for fear of them being a spy sent by the dreaded Scarlet Rains. |
