Biography
In an ocean seething with chaotic arcane magic, there was a very big mountain. While most mountains around this one resembled dragon claws or talons simply by their curvature, this one was uncannily life-like. It, along with the collection of smaller, similarly sharp mountains by its base, were dubbed "The Claw-Shaped Mountain" Collectively. The dragons who lived there adopted the name from the resident Maren, who used the landmark for navigation.
Unlike the majority of mountains nearby, which maybe had a cave or two, this mountain was completely hollowed out. Around 3 meters of crystal make up the outer shell. Several mages were needed to fortify the enchantments holding the mountain up.
The architecture of the inside varies from room to room, but consistently has a space-theme to it. Each area was, for the most part, designed with a different king in charge. As such, its reasonable to assume this was the main cause. Even now, new rooms are being made, although the base of the mountain only extends so far...
Each section of the lair can be attributed to a "Reign" of ruler, and are as follows.
The First Reign was the simplest of styles, and consists of the Great Hall, the Throne Room, and a few residential dwellings that have since been knocked down to streamline the lair somewhat. Four walls encrusted with glowing crystals maps out the night sky in the Great Hall, which one could compare to an oversized foyer. Each wall is attributed to each season, unique constellations marked with lines carved into the walls, connecting especially bright crystals. Other than the pop-up stands used by traveling merchants, the room is fairly empty. A large fire pit sits in the center of the room, rough and natural in nature. The Throne room is similarly empty, with a large throne that is clearly a later addition. Its walls are painted with murals depicting local legends and myths, while the ceiling is adorned with caricatures of the 11 deities.
The Second Reign saw the implementation of a Corinthian style. One of the most interesting parts of this period was the monarchs clear obsession with columns. The only room still with its original columns is the library, which is widely regarded as the only room where the placement made any sense. All of the others were knocked down, as they were in the way, mostly. Other than that, there were a few residential buildings built in this time period, although only a couple remain un-updated. The resident historian considers this a great loss
The Third Reign was marked by a tendency to make everything very round. Many of the office spaces used today are in Third Reign rooms, as the circular shape helps with acoustics. The original purpose of these rooms is a bit of a mystery, however, as they all look the same, save for the occasional shelf. The Main Theatre is also in this style, with clear inspiration from the first age in its design. Its a more artistic approach to the Rough and Hand carved vibe, as the First Age only had that style due to the majority of the rocks being... Hand carved.
The Fourth Reign ended shortly after it began; The way to become the monarch was to fight the original in their choice of battle, and the Third Monarch had chosen a battle of Constitution. The Fourth Monarch died, as they both had ingested poison. The only thing built in this time was the first room of the Medical wing, although it wasnt finished before the Fifth monarch came to rule.
The Fifth Reign was one of the more prosperous periods, and many of the rooms constructed in this time were mostly for leisure
