Although the lifespan of dragons is a lengthy one, there aren’t many that become elders in their clans. More often than not, the gods will demand that a dragon be sent to the deities before their time is due – be it for their appearance or for the capriciousness of those they serve. Despite living for centuries, there are few dragons that actually reach such an age while still free.
Those that do are usually relics of a bygone era. Elders dedicated to serving their clans and deities until they are but a myth themselves. Others still live to become itinerant dragons, sages spending short spans of years with new clans as they make their way through Sornieth. Whether they are exploring or running from the notice of their gods is a matter of opinion, but few can argue with the wisdom of those awe-inspiring ancients.
